Third-Party Companies

In Games

What are the top three third-party companies that you feel made the biggest difference in the NES's success?

Tecmo -- Ninja Gaiden (and about a million other awesome titles)
Square -- Final Fantasy, Rad Racer
Capcom -- Megaman (and about a million other awesome titles)

Codemaster's unlicensed games are so great...

I never got to play any of those carts. What were some of the games?

My top three would be: (drum roll)

Konami
Capcom
Tecmo

They all made awesome games. Really helped drive sales.

Not to forget Taito,Activision,Koei,Palcom.

Definately. Activision always seemed to have alot of games. Same with LJN.

Easy: go to and download some of them

A good puzzle games are

Interesting link... I'll check it out. By the way, Visjoner, instead of always being a guest, why don't you register with NESfiles? We could use some more people.

I will...

by the way, in vimm.net, you have to go to THE VAULT if you want to download NES ROMs.

(i forgot to say)

Got it, I didn't get that far earlier. Had to do some stuff. Thanks for the tip!

What good games did LJN have? I've often seen their name on some of the worst NES Games I've played...

Yes, but they have put out the cheesy games that I have posted about before. They did most of the horror genre games and movie games(i.e. Friday the 13th and Nightmare). I'm just saying that alot of the games definately had a big impact on sales, just by the name of the game.

Color Dreams has a few good games and the wisdom tree games are actually fun to play.

Hmmm... I'm not sure I can think of any of their games right off hand. Would you mind posting a few names of their games, matt111beer?

Color Dreams had a bunch of cheesy games that are a dime a dozen out there, I believe. Wisdom Tree made unlicensed carts with a religious theme-- Spiritual Warfare, Bible Adventures I think it was, etc.

Above is menace beach by color dreams wich is rare. Others include Baby Boomer, Captain Comic, Master Chu and Drunkard Hu, Pesterminator, Raid 2020 There r others but Operation Secret Storm with Saddam Hussein is the rarest.

Wisdom Tree games include games like Bible Adventures, King of Kings and Bible Buffet. Bible Adventures is an awesome game. There are also others but I cant think right know.

OK, I know which ones you are talking about. I've never played any of those games, though I have seen them at the video game store just outside of town.

Is it a joke?

Surprised? I've never met anyone who played the games, but obviously people did, seeing as how the company released more than one game. It's probably not a joke, but if it is, it's an awful weird joke.

Heres a look at some of the games
Wisdom Trees

Color Dreams

I wish there were more on ebay but if you look in the future you will find more. I currently own Baby Boomer and Crystal Mines and you can see why cuz the prices they go for. So I take tome to consider wich ones to purchase. Id love to find um for a dime a dozen LOL. If any one has um cheap Im your man.

This is easy.

Konami
Capcom
Sunsoft (why didn't anyone mention these geniuses yet?)

Ha!

Konami and Capcom were mentioned on the first page of this thread. Sunsoft wasn't though. How forgetful I've become!

I was only referring to Sunsoft, with geniuses I ment the people at Sunsoft.

I understand now.

Yeah, SunSoft made some great games! I like the style that their graphics ended up looking like, too. They all had a colorful, yet somehow darkened over tone. Some of my favorites by them were Batman, Batman: Return of the Joker, Gremlins 2, Blaster Master .... just to name a few.

How about the music they had? Some really jammin' tunes! Remember the music from Gremlins 2? THAT is some catchy stuff!

Awesome company.
