Favourite Current Generation System.

In Modern Systems

Which is your favourite? Why?
I'm not including handhelds in this.

If this has been done, please lock, but I didn't see anything along these lines.

Gamecube.

Gamecube, that's why I own it (and no PS2 and no XBox).

It has many games I like, with The Wind Waker at the top.

I honestly cannot choose between the 'Cube an the Xbox. They are both really awesome systems with a lot of good games. But if I HAD to choose between them, it'd be the 'Cube, mainly because the controller.

Gamecube all the way!

Roll, please post more. That kitty in your avatar is so cute.

PS2. And I'm not doing it just to rock the boat. It has such a huge variety...
And any doubts I had were shattered by Shadow of the Colossus and ICO. I love the games, not the system.

GCN by far.

At first it was gamecube but recently, its going to have to be the ps2 because of the awsome variety, and it also has the suikoden games and alot of variety on it just as the above poster has stated. And alot of good RPGS for it that I like. Oh and ps2 has the Capcom Classics Collection

Thank you, sir! I really like it too. Anyway, the Gamecube is my favourite.

The Xbox got my vote, it's just so much easier to find good games for it. and the fact that if a game has a crap soundtrack, you can just play your own music without hauling a stereo around is awesome.

I'm sure I'll like it even more when I get around to installing a mod chip, and I get some emulation happening.

Xbox for me i've had 2 Xbox systems since December of 2001 and i've always had lots of fun with it and played many great games over the years i'm getting an Xbox 360 but i'm still gonna keep my xbox.

the GameCube is my favorite, but that doesn't mean it's the best. i actually think it's the worst. PS2 is probly the best because it has SOOO many games for it. Xbox would be second, eventhough the thing is crap and i hate it, it's got alot of quality games for it. the only thing wrong with the GameCube is Nintendo. as much as i like Nintendo, they suck. they're too worried about making it a kidsy console. notice how most of the M rated GOOD games are only for Xbox and PS2? if Nintendo had more 3rd party support, the GameCube would be the best. i'm not bashing the GameCube at all, i said before it's my favorite of the next-gen consoles. the controller fits in my hand perfectly, it's comfortable, it's not as big as the Xbox, or the PS2, and the Nintendo exclusive games are really good. it's just that it needs more 3rd party support

PS2. They have Katamari Demacy.
Enough said.

Game Cube they've got Metroid and Zelda and .....................................

(Yells continuously and incoherently.)

I voted for the Xbox because of its emulation capabilities. Also the harddrive is a big selling point. Though the Gamecube does have better games... And PS2 does have 2,000 games... I like them all pretty much.

But how many of them are good?

But how many of them are good?

A . And of a wide variety.

Gamecube, and PS2 coming in a close second, and xbox in third (even though I like MS better than Sony).

GameCube. It is the first system to ever replace the NES as my favorite.

Just for the record my most favorite systems are in this order the first being my most favorite.

Nintendo GameCube
Nintendo Entertainment System
GameBoy Advance
Playstation One
Playstation 2
Personal Computer (includes Internet only games and TRS-80)
Super Nintendo Entertainment System
Other (Atari 2600, N64, anything else I forgot to add.)

Xbox.
Halo alone makes it worthwhile. I swear I played Halo every weekend with a LAN for about 6 months straight with a group of guys before our Xbox was fried and everybody else got Xbox Live.
The Controller S is superior to the PS2 and Gamecube except for a few genres.

yeah right! the GameCube controller is the best controller to date. (aside from the NES controller, but we won't count that one )

You are exactly the reason I dislike the XBox... I love mine, but only because it rarely sees any Halo. I occasionally pop halo 2 in there when I need to experience total mediocrity.

Play a real game, something that's ACTUALLY good, like Jade Empire, Ninja Gaiden, Fable, Burnout 3...

Better than the S? arguably, I have giant hands, so the Cube controller isn't my ideal, but I won't say the S is the second coming of Christ (in video game controller form) I would say that about the 360 controller though... I can't help but fondle that thing up every time I see one.

Notice the XBOX Controller S is almost the same as a Dreamcast controller, 2 analouge sticks, 1 D-Pad, A,B,X,Y, in the same position, L and R Triggers, and two memory slots. The only difference is the position of the START button, the BACK button and the Black and White Buttons, and that there is no "screen" for the Memory cards.

I kinda noticed that too. As for the Dreamcast controller, I like that, the VMU's were cool.

I have to agree. I think the VMU's were a great idea and I thought they would start a huge memory card revolution and everyone would make VMU's.........But it didnt.....so................

I thought that too. Kind of a shame it didn't work out

Why does everyone refer to older systems as "was" THEY STILL ARE COOL!

... the only way the "S" and DC pad are related at all beyond features that have been on every controller for the past 10 years is the two "memory unit" slots, and the analog triggers.

The DC only has one analog stick, if you've ever used one...

EVERYTHING in history has one d-pad, with the exception of the Virtual Boy, it had two.

ABXY position is also MUCH too standard to claim as a similarity between just those two pads.

I choose XBOX.

Reason # 1 -

Reason # 2 -

And there you go.

If I were basing the systems purely on exclusive game libraries, I would probably take both the PS2 and GameCube ahead of it. In this battle however, the hardware (and what can be done with it) is the main factor for my decision.

Do all of the emulators run full speed?

Ps2. I have the choice of buying ps 1 or 2 games. Its awesome.

deffinately PS2
If you know what you are doing you can easily do anything on the x-box
there are programs like HDLOADER and you can get free cracked versions that work of a memory card so u can save games onto your HDD withought a chip. You can easily emulate any system (if you want proof you can find it on google i was playing windwaker on my ps2 a lil while ago)* note i am unsure bout the x-box but who cares x-box is a one game system and halo is a garbage game anyways its just over rated. Best Game Library with thousands of games from all the ps1 games and all of the ps2 games and if you unlock the regions using a chip you can get any sony manufactured game ever.Ps2 mod chips cost less. And free ps2 online with rocks. There are only a few games that you pay for and thats FF11 Online and Everquest 1&2
And You can Hold me by any of this because im a Modder and i know what im doing

OK, that's a giant lie, and completely impossible no matter what you try to tell me.

Secondly, either put some thought into your posts or stop posting, I can't even read your crap.

This is my official warning, I'm already considering more severe action.

I just Googled for gamecube emulators and got a few hits, and I can't see why this is impossible. If there are genuine GC emulators, and NES ROMs available then why should this not work?

Maybe Carnage could elaborate on this ... please?

I agree somewhat with NesLuke. I find it quite impossible to emulate a GC ISO (or NES ROM) in a PS2. Emulators are scarce and some don't even play all the games. I think I would appreciate a picture of that really happening for me to believe.

I agree again. It's very difficult to read this crap you write (err- type). Follow grammatical rules once in a while. Or at least to spell correctly..

Because a PS2 is less POWerful than the Gamecube, and if you have ever exeirenced slowdown for a god damned SNES emulator on the dreamcast, try runnng a gamecube game on hardware that can't even support what it's trying to play.

I voted XBOX. ONLY because of the many possibilities.......(music, Mods, Mods, Mods, etc...) I'm a gadget guy and I love possibilities. GameCube is better (for obvious reasons). PS2 Does have A-LOT of games and about 1/4 of them are really good.

Yes. All the emulators I have for now are perfect speed.
(Ex: xSNES9x DreamSNES)

The only one's that have issues are the N64 and PS1, but that's usually graphical errors or sound-skip problems and not game speed.

It's pretty much the same as playing emulators on a PC with a 733 Mhz Pentium 3 (or other equivalent) with the added bonus of having a nice controller, TV connection, and that "console feel" to it.

I gave up hope after "deffinately".

No offense carnage, but from now on everything you say is wrong.

Delightfully blunt as always, ZEN.

Carnage, spelling mistakes are forgivable, if you're really trying. However, could you write in actual sentences? Pretty please? With sugar on top?

...And a cherry?

Am I really the only one that had no real problem reading that run-on paragraph?
Maybe my brain is super POWered to change total crap into real sentences....:D

Maybe it's retail that's doing it to me... once I had this lady from the middle east ask me for a "sob ish". I was able to decifer that she meant "SOAP DISH".

It's not that I didn't understand the crap, but because it crap.
He should try to spell better, or at least try to use grammar. I know, it's hard, but It's good, to read all the post.

Okay, okay. Carnage has now officially been lambasted, everyone got it off their chests, let's all give it a rest now.

I will officially apologize to "carnage" as soon as I get proof of 'Windwaker' being played on PS2.

In the meantime, continue to feel the wrath of my "superiority complex".
(That goes for ALL of you.)

GameCube: 485Mhz POWerPC G3 based CPU with 48MB (or somewhere in that area) of RAM.

PS2: 300Mhz MIPS CPU with 32MB of RAM.

if that doesn't make it clear...

MIPS and PPC are different, meaning the game would have to be ported if it were to run at all, and when we consider than the PS2 is about 50% slower, and has about 50% less RAM, the game would either look, or run like ass.

Nah, that lie was way too much, I'm a damn admin and I say he's open season...

he can't and will never provide proof because GC emulation is total crap even on the PC, which is ALWAYS leaps and bounds ahead of console emulators. the PS2 is the worst of these because it's WEAK, and still requires a mod chip. the DC got development because it was open right from the start, the XBox gets development because it's easy, and POWerful enough to run things full speed. I bet the PS2 would struggle with SNES almost as much as the DC does.

Just too funny to go unnoticed..
