What era of gaming did you grow up with

In General Gaming

Well i grew up when the NES reighned surpreme and all the way through Snes and the sega wars alll the way till now. Im glad to have been born in the golden era of gaming. What era of gaming did you mostly grow up with?

I was born in 1988, so I grew up with the classic 8-bit years, and the 16-bit Genesis, SNES and so on, first system I ever got was the NES with Mario 1 then the SNES with Super Mario world, I remember back then I played that damn game all morning on christmas when I got it, then I got my Sega genesis and played Sonic 1 all day, I never owned Sonic 2 though, always had to burrow it off someone lol but I had Sonic 3, and Sonic and Knuckles as welll as Dr. Robotniks mean bean Machine, I tell ya this much, I'd give anything to have those days back.

Same here man same here. I was born in the mid 80s so i had it good too. All we had WERE 8 bit graphics at the time. Felt good playing those tough games and when you died you actually had to STAR OVER. Ahh the nostalgia

You also had cheap movie-to-games without a save feature and was hard as hell for NES, some that werent even worth beating lol can we say, Beetlejuice? I'll admit though, back when I was younger, and was easily entertained I actually liked games like that, like Home alone for nes, but now I think its rather funny how Marv and Harry looked like mexicans in that game, and trip over square boxes with pictures of items lmao!

I was Born in 92 and lived most in the Supernes era, in my town you had 2 be some rich or lucky dude 2 have an N64

I grew up with the Atari 2600, the Commodore 64 and finally the NES around me.
As already sain, the Golden era of gaming. I'm quite proud of that.

Your lucky manuel. Wish i could have been born during the first age of gaming. You have certanly seen it all. But im just grateful enough i wasnt born in era when 3d games ruled.

Started with NES, and completely ignored all other systems until the playstation.

However, one day, I was at my friend's house, and I looked at the tiny tv set in his room. Just below it was his Genesis, and just next to that was a single game cartridge. It was Zombies Ate My Neighbors. So, we plugged it in, and didn't leave the genesis for four hours. That got me interested in the SNES and Genesis. As for the early systems, though, all I ever tried was the Sega Master System.

I was born into the NES. I remember when the SNES even came out. only rich kids had it. I remember kids would be at school and would talk about all the games they had and I would be like, "I got that... on NES." I still to this day have never got to own an SNES. I went from NES to N64 in one big jump. I had to cut ALOT of grass to get my N64 too. I even got it before all the rich kids.

I was Born in 1982 so i also grew up in the NES Era and SNES/Genesis Era those were the good ol' days

I got to experience gaming as early as the 2600, and I'm glad. I don't think I'd appreciate that system as much as I do now if it hadn't been my first console that I played on. I never owned one, since my father pretty much thought it was lame He used to make fun of video games for "beeping." All my buddies had one though, so I was always jammin' on some cool games like Maze Craze, or Keystone Kapers.

When NES hit, the same thing happened to me. Everyone had one, but I didn't. I loved going to my friends' houses all the time to play Karnov (they used to make fun of me for wanting to play their Karnov carts ), Freedom Force, Friday the 13th, Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!, and Super Mario Bros. 2 to name a few. I finally received my first NES somewhere before a year that the SNES came out, I believe. That's one system I never owned either, Murder Killz, until just the other day (still no games). I had an SMS2 back in the day, but sold it right after I got back from the Marine Corps. I wish I had never done that, cuz those things can be a pest to get ahold of now.

I pretty much didn't do much with gaming until the PSOne came out. After I saw what Metal Gear Solid looked like, I HAD to have it.

Wow... I just realized how off-topic I've gone.... ummmmm...

Yeah, i grew up with the Atari 2600 and NES and a little SMS. Genesis snuck it's way in there too.

This topic just made me think and I have realized something. since I was 3 years old I have never gone one day in my life with out having a game system Hooked up to a TV in my house. I had and NES to N64 to PS2 to Game Cube to Xbox. and now I have my NES, Game Cube and Xbox all Hooked up onto one TV. wow, my whole life I've been around video games... woah.

My timeline of gaming from when I was a wee nipper up until 18:

BBC Micro
NES
Amiga
SNES
N64

Some of my friends had Segas so I got to play all the classics on those too.

Edit: I forgot about the Gameboy so throw that one in there somewhere. The good old b/w version of course!

In the style of Daynum.

SNES
Master System II
PlayStation
N64

Up to the modern consoles.

I was born in 1985, got my first console the SNES, when they first came out in the UK. My friend had a Mega Drive so I could play that too.

I was born in 1990 and I got my nes when I was 1, My Mom would spend hours playing it. Then in 1992 I got my SNES!!! well the first one 1997 was when I had to say good bye to it! I spilled KOOL-AID on it because I triped and the glass fell! But in 1998 I got my N64 with Diddy Kong racing. 1999 got me a PSX with Bubsy man I hated that game. then few years later around 2002 I got my GameCube with Sonic MC and Mario Sunshine with WWE X8. 2004 I got my XBOX with Halo. then in the summer of 2005 I got A NEW SNES!!!!! Then about the end of summer I traded my XBOX in for a PS2 and I must say I never been happyer!! (Sorry but I don't think Happyer is a word but who cares).

My neighbor's got a NES when they came out (and I was so jealous) and my dad wouldn't buy us one (they were too expensive). He eventually turned his attitude around and got us one; the cool one that came with the POWerpad, gun, and the cartridge that had Mario/Duckhunt/Track N Field (then my neighbors were the ones to be jealous). Then we got the Sega Genesis. We didn't have another game system until the xmas my brother brought home his PS1. Then I conned my dad into buying my own a couple years later.
Now I just collect systems.

I was born in 1991, but I grew up with the good old NES anyway.

N64 and PS. I didnt get interested in Video gmaes until 7 or so. I had played SMB3 at my cousins house when i was younger, though.

Well I was born in 1978 so I grew up on the atari 2600 then to the :
nes
gameboy
snes
genesis
genesis nomad
sega saturn
playstation
sega dreamcast
playstation 2
Xbox

and now to all the next gen.

You could probably still say I'm young. But when I was younger all I played was PC games like Jazz Jackrabbit and Commander Keen. And oh yeah, Kings Quest V.

Same Here i don't know what i would do without Video Games.

i was born July 7th 1984.........

MY older brothers ALWAYS had their NES on and would NEVER let me play it, if i were caught touching it they didnt like it...needless to say when i got about 7 - 8 years old they finally let me play it without any problems (i am the youngest) so i guess it was a "hand me down" in this case it was a good one I finally got into the NES and all that...we really didnt have the money to buy an SNES at the time so i really got into playing the NES

Its been about 10 years since ive played an NES...got one coming soon and i cant wait to play it. I feel like a little kid waiting on christmas eve trying to go to sleep lol

I was born 7/31/1974 in UK. Came to this country in '83 and currently live in Minneapolis, MN (house, wife, 2 kids, job, 2 cats, blah blah blah).

Growing up, dad would never let me have a 2600 or a NES--called it "brain rot". Spent many many hours at friends' houses playing assorted 2600 games and SMB1, SMB2, SMB3, Zelda, etc. on NES.

Bought a N64 when I graduated (BSCE '97 UMich).

I owned a Commodore 64 and an Amiga. Still have two Amigas slowly rotting away in my basement (cats puke on them frequently). Also a 2600.

Now I have a PC with emulators for 2600, NES, C=64, Amiga, etc.

I was born in 1990, and grew up playing my brothers NES, and a Genesis. I loved those systems.
