Where is it?

In Off-topic

Where's the recent forum topics colom gone? That's pretty much all I read in the forums bit.

I didn't even realize it, but it's true.
I usually don't look at the front page, the nesfiles have quite changed...

I noticed that too, probably on Monday (I think) I thought it was a nice feature to have, as you could check the most recent topics quickly (which was obviously its intention)

Yeah, whatever did happen to the recent topics part on the front page? Derek take it out or something?

What I don't understand is the recent forums... Why does it infringe copyright?

Because that's what the ISP whined about... Don't comply, don't have a website... take your pick...

Oh, well. I guess they have their reasons.

I bet they have their servers somewhere far away, where they haven't ever even heard of something like copyrights.

Actually, they are. On GBA you have compilations of Atari games and also the Classic NES Series. You have systems that get the Sonic Series from Genesis all on one disc, Arcade game compilations, more Atari compilations, etc. etc. They're putting alot of stuff out there for sale from back in the day.

But that's just a small fraction of what there is.
And Murphy's law says: You won't find the game you want on a compilation disc.
If it is on the disc, the button layout will be the other way round so that you can't play it properly. Right, Roth? (Didn't you have such an experience with your Megaman collection?...)

Ha! Yeah, that's true, sometimes they'll screw them up. What I'm saying though that the games are being released, and are out there. That's the reason for some companies throwing a fit about it. Sure there's not ALL of the games out, but as more games become considered classic, more will be released. It's pretty much like a book company re-printing their books and putting them out in a set. Not much different at all.

About not finding the game you want on a compilation disc though, I found Rastan the arcade game on a compilation... I'm VERY thankful for that

The copyright for printed texts expires after 70 years of the author's death (I think). I just wonder is it the same with games? Do we get a lot of free games in about 100 years?

I want a compilation with all of Square's and Enix's SNES RPGs on it.

They might have done. I remember some Nintendo big boys with virtual Baseball bats giving Martin from Nes World grief over some content on his site a few years ago.
