Most Memorable Boss Battle

In Games

What is your most memorable boss fight ever? be it for time spent on it, pleasing visuals of the attacks/area, overall coolness of the boss, etc.

Again, lets leave it open to modern consoles as well.

for me I would have to say that from memory, FFVIII was the most memorable, I spent two hours on that boss. and had she not died when she did, I would have died on her next attack, the adrenalin was pumping for the entire battle.

The Metal Gear Rays on MGS2! I never got around to attempting it, but supposedly (according to the game) there were 25 of them. I always wanted to try and defeat all of them. Very fun and intense battle!

I've done it, it was a pleasing battle, the number of RAYs varied based on the difficulty setting. I think on the lowest setting you only had to defeat the initial 3, and then on the higher settings there were more and more, and on the maximum setting you did in fact have to defeat all 25 of them. but after that is done you have to fight Solidus with the sword.

That was an awesome game.

(sorry if I spoiled it for anyone )

Well, I've beaten the game, but there was one Metal Gear called R05E. It was the fifth one, and all you had to do was kill five to pass for sure. That's another very memorable battle, with Solidus! That was an incredibly fun (and sometimes frustrating) battle!

The final battle with the dragon in 'Legacy of the Wizard' just shines with elements of "classicness".

Mother Brain on the original 'Metroid'.

The hand-to-hand fight with Liquid Snake on top of Metal Gear in 'Metal Gear Solid' (or pretty much any battle from that game).

Kefka from Final Fantasy 3 (or VI).

Deus from 'Xenogears'.

The big giant space station thingy at the end of 'Thunder Force 2'.

Judge Doom from 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit?' (memorable because he was so freekin hard).

...

and many more that I'll probably remember later.

Xenogears? We've all been wondering just how many discs that was. If you could shed some light on that for us...

Some of the final bosses from Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars were quite memorable. Also The Final Boss fight in the Finale Stage fought by Shadow and Sonic teamed up in Sonic Adventure 2 battle.

I remember wanting Mario RPG so badly when it came out. But I still to this day haven't played it beyond maybe a few seconds on an emulator. I should try to grab that for the girlfriend's SNES.

Definatly dude! That is, in my opinion, the absolute best mario game so far (Still havent bought Paper Mario 2)

I don't know much about Mario RPG, but Paper Mario kicked tail! I love that game. If anyone knows of place where I can find a cartridge of that... (but not too expensive)

mmmmmmmmm...gotta go with Iron Tank (for the NES). Dont know the boss names but gigantic tanks with tons of ammo and POWer was sure to make for a great battle. The game is long too. Alot of bosses are in it. Also Megaman X4....Sigma. Three parts. It was pretty hard and interesting.

Usually you can find it used in a gamestop or an Ebgames for about $30.00.

Well my answer isn't actually a boss, but a game that took a long time to finish. It is Super Mario 64, it took me 5 years to beat it!

I've never finished it, although my girlfriend has it now, so I'll likely sit down and beat it next time I go to her place.

Another memorable Boss battle is 'Contra: Shattered Soldier'.
I'll just keep it at that because the entire game feels like one enormous long boss fight.

Amen to that! I love that game! If there was ever a game for technical gamers, that's it! All the bosses are awesome! I especially like the "train" part where you have to hang from the ceiling alot. Awesome game!

And the train where that transformer like thing runs in front and stops it, then picks it up. Wow!
My favorite is the giant insane man-faced fish thingy. I especially liked its entrance when it starts breaking the glass (that is one of the most intense moments in gaming I've ever seen). Then you have to jump across the floaty rafts to avoid it when it darts up out of the water and tries to eat you.
Very fun if almost in an over-the-top kind of way.

Gofer, Boss of Gradius 2. When I reach it with full POWer (4 option, spread bomb,2xlaser), it became the most idiot boss I ever seen.

But most memorable boss of mine is Werewolf. To reach the boss itself, i face great difficulties, and the boss itself, is veryyyy difficult to beat.
