Deathly FFIII Price

In SNES

I was at Dr. Flea's flea market in Toronto today, and I encountered a cart-only copy of Final Fantasy III. The lady at the booth was trying to sell it for $100 Canadian. I know FF is still a hot title but this was way over the top. I did manage to get Act Raiser for $23 though.

It kind of annoys me when vendors think collectors are that dumb.

Funny. I saw the same thing recently at Square 1 in uh... Mississauga, I guess. Actually, I'm not sure what city it's in. Not important.

FF3 was priced at 100 dollars, then I bought Act raiser for 30. I think that's wild :D

Anyway, I don't know anyone who would spend that much. It's a pretty high demand item, but still...

Actually, now that you mention it, Square One was trying to sell Chrono Trigger for $130. I asked the guy working there who traded it in, and he said it was at the store before he was. Maybe that means it's overpriced, lol.

They were also trying to sell Secret of Evermore for $60. I bought mine for $10. But for some reason, their Illusion of Gaia was only like $30, and it's a much better game than Secret of Evermore. I guess people just know about Secret of Mana, lol.

I think many people just see the words "Final Fantasy" and assume it should sell at an extremely high price. SNES R.P.G's are overpriced in general. A game shop near me has had the same copy of "Secret Of Mana" in the window for a year now, far too overpriced at 60 GBP.

guess i should of picked up Act Raiser for $5.99 at EB a year ago

Act Raiser is pretty cheap on ebay:

I was thinking the same thing, I think I paid less than $5 Canadian for my copy...

Yeah, you really have to watch the prices people are pushing. I got my Secret of Mana for $35 US and my FF3, which I just got on the weekend was $40 Canadian with box in excellent condition.

Man... those prices are insane. Around here FF3 sells for around $30 loose. I've seen FF2 for the same price.

Insane is the right word.
Good that I found my copy of FF6 in Japan for far under 10$, and that's CIB.

Speaking of over priced games, I remember sometime ago seeing Super Mario Bros. usa Famicom disk drive game for $200CDN at the Pickering flea markets, Ouch. But I guess your best bet is going to Trader joes here in Oshawa. All games retro wise are cheap but if you are looking for a copie of All-Stars that will cost you like $25CDN I dunno if thats rare but I should have grab the Mario All stars I found at a yard sale a few years back for $3 CIB...

Microplay sometimes sells All-Stars for like $10 I think, it was the second game I got for the system.

I found FFII for $30 loose when I bought FFIII, but I like 3 a lot more.

The microplay store here in Oshawa the one on Grandview is pretty bad, FF1 loose Nes cart for $69.99, When they had the buy 1 Nes game get 1 free I bought a cheap one then tried to get FF1 it almost worked but didn't, Damn there smart there.

Yeah, equal or lesser value usually ruins all the good deals, lol.

I've noticed that many copies of Dragon Warrior have been popping up at stores. It's one of my favourite NES Games and it's cool to see it again.

I was Game hunting with Luke and I came arcoss a Dragon Warrior cart for $5.00CDN I was like RARE! But Luke told me that its common, Isn't the 2nd one rare?

It was $6.99, and 2-4 are pretty uncommon.

Oh yes I forgot the price. I have to go back there. Lots of Genesis games there.

I was thinking this pal of mine was kind of a sucker for simply giving me my FF1 NES cart, until I started checking eBay. It doesn't seem like it's pulling a lot of $$ unless it's got the map, manual, box, etc. You'd think it would be worth more?

I would pay more for a complete game. I think most collecters would.

I do think the sequels to Dragon Warrior are more rare than the original, seeing as I've never seen any of the in stores.

deffinatly. at one time Nintendo POWer gave out Dragon Warrior as a free gift for subscribing.

Those were the days when Nintendo POWer was a Good mag to read.

Pretty much all gaming magazines have decreased in quality since their creation. The amount of advertizing in them is just obscene, and prices are worse than ever before. At lot of them cost around $10-$11 Canadian when they used to be in the $8 range.

Game game mags are quite expensive...

The most expensive German game mags cost 4.99 Euro, which is around 6 US$. Not that bad when you consider that a DVD comes with those.

There is really not a point to buy Game mags when you have the Internet.

I agree about the Internet point. If you want a walkthrough or code, just try IGN. And ads for new games are no trouble to come by.

but it's easier to read a magazine on the toilet

yeah, OGTL, i don't got one of those, and i still think it'd be easier to read a magazine on the toilet

Maybe its time to get one? I have had one for 2 years now. And I would rather have a laptop over a desktop.

I first bought FFIII when it first came out. It was retailed at $80. That was one of the most, if not the most expensive retail game for the SNES. Well worth it back then IMO. I was already into RPG, but this just made my love for them even more solid.
