Sunset Riders

In SNES

Has anyone played this game? I heard it was good on the Snes but not that great on the Genesis.

I miss this game. Awesome game on the Arcade. I'd think it would be a nice translation on the SNES.

I played it on Genesis. Thought it was a great game. You go through levels just basicly shooting things sort of like Contra. A pretty fun game.

I JUST purchased this game at half.com, and will be playing through it soon. The reviews I have read spoke highly of it, and the little bit I tried on an emulator seemed promising.

It is a Contra-like game set in the old west, but the action is quite a bit slower than Contra (slower movement and slower bullets).

i love this Game alot, i ahve it for SNES.

I played a fair amount of 'Sunset Riders' in the arcades long ago. It's especially fun as a multiplayer game. Reminds me of 'Metal Slug' in a lot of ways, but I believe it pre-dates that game.
I like the mix of anime style characters and animation with the old west theme.

I actually beat the Genesis version. It was alright, but was missing some features and levels that were in the arcade game.
Still fun and worth playing, so I imagine the SNES version is too.

with a multi Tap can you play 4 Player.

this game was so aweosme, i played it back when arcades were fun. the new arcade games suck. except for silent scope and time crisis. besides, i haven't seen any really new arcade games in a while. all i see is the same games over and over and over.

The only arcade games I see are Dance Dance Revolution or Sega Rally. Sometimes Time Crisis.
I've played this game briefly via emulator and I quite enjoyed it. I hope to pick up the actual cartridge soon.

Ha ho, Time Crisis. Good times. Same with SIlent Scope. Mainly, though, I spent all my time playing LA Guns. fun game, that. Even if it does kill your spine.

atari's right, though, I haven't been seeing any new arcade games in a time. The business is probably in another slump.

thats exactly how i am, well my brother has Sunset, for SNES, i want one for my self, and at the arcade i play Sega Rally and DDR, and occasionaly time Crisis.

I got around to playing this one now. I conquered it in about a week. It was good fun. I like the level of difficulty too. The last boss, Richard Rose seemed way too hard at first, but after several attempts, I was able to kick his butt. If anyone might need a strategy for any boss, just ask. I checked out gamefaqs.com for some of the later boss strategies, but I did my own thing on most of them.

Last time i played i got to the Indian dude , atop some mountain i think,

Well, not sure if you were looking for tips, but this is my method to defeat him. If you are able to beat this boss, you’ll be pleased to know that the next boss is an easier one.

At the moment the battle starts, walk over towards him, kneel down, and open fire on him. The point where you kneel down, should be at a position where the tip of the gun can reach past his knives & shoot his body. This will cut his energy greatly. His next move will be to jump up to the rocks. He will throw 3 knives from above you, and when he does, make a slight adjustment to the side (just tap left or right). As soon as you have dodged the knives, get underneath him and start open firing at him. I believe he’s invincible until he jumps, but just keep shooting so the shots register immediately. He will then jump again throwing 3 more knives. For some reason, I find it better to move just a little more than for the first knife attack, so tap two times either left or right for this dodge. When he jumped down to your level, he might be quite close, so jump away from him to avoid getting sliced. Now you get to take advantage of him being at ground level again. Like the very first opening attack, position your guy so that the tip of his gun can hit the chief, but you will be out of his range, and open fire.

Now you know the pattern. It’s likely that you will die at some point during the fight, but just pick up where you left off, and make sure to take advantage when he’s on the ground (too close and you’ll get sliced, so keep the right distance). Another thing to point out, is that this technique works with the 2 shotgun characters, but I’ve never tested it with the other 2 guys.

Now, if this isn’t enough to help, there is one last sure way to beat him. If you are playing a 1 player game, make sure you have a second controller Hooked up. As soon as you see you are down to one guy, be ready with that second controller. Immediately after you are killed, push start on the opposite controller and you will keep going as player number 2 (4 more lives!). You can do this as many times back & forth as you want, as long as you have continues left.

Thastg awesome!
