Usergroups?

In Off-topic

What is a usergroup and how do you make them? I noticed about this usergroup link at the top and I thought, why not create a usergroup but how do you do it?

It's something that the Admin (maybe mods too) can use to organise the members of the boards. It's not a personal tool for your profile.

If anybody knows, tell us please. I don't have a clue, too.

To expand on what Mr.DNA said a usergroup is basically a group set up (by admin I guess) that consists of a particular subgroup of members. For example, there might be an over 18's group, a South American group, or a female group (probably not much demand for that last one round here ). Whoever is in charge of the group decides on who qualifies to be part of it and then there will be a separate board for that group. It probably only works well on large message boards with a ton of members.

Wow I used the word group a lot in this post!

Ok then, I'll be the head of the German group.

So that's nothing we really need. Let's just be one big NES-files group.

It's an Admin controlled feature, mods can't control it. This board, the phhBB boards, can only be made through html, I know cause I tryed making one myself. Basically, thats the reason why Derik has a hard time managing to get icons for this place and setup user groups.

Personally, I think he should make a prize group where if someone were to reach like 500 or 1000 posts, they will go into an evolved group like where the get better features like being able to store more pms, changing the color of a user, or giving them the chance to edit their own custum title. I don't want to say it's a must because I don't know how much knoledge Derik has on HTML.

It's actually programmed in PHP and uses an SQL database. It's not that hard to customize a board though, it just takes some patience and determination. I set up and fixed it up quite a bit to look less busy and more clean.

I just suck at all forms of coding. As a teen, I don't relly have the time to learn HTML, not to mention my a.d.d might add to the effect of makin it hard for me to want to learn it

No... after you posting your pic, your "fun bags," I'm sure, I HIGHLY appreciated

Don't feel bad, alot of people just aren't used to the opposite sex posting on the forum. You have to remember, everyone here plays the Nintendo Entertainment System.... No one is used to women around these parts!

I'm used to women.
My wife often plays games with me.

Is this what they call a Freudian slip?

What I meant was basically the same as what Manuel was saying about a German group; it would be quite a lonely place. I wish that wasn't the case, I'd love to see more women (and Germans ) posting here.

Maybe it's because I'm tired this morning but I first read that as "I used to be a woman"!

uhhh, gamer + girl = ultimate woman for many, MANY guys out there.

I know I'm incredibly pleased that I've been able to show my girlfriend the joys of gaming (Thank you, Tales of Symphonia) I'm sure many good times will come of her enlightenment.

Why did you guies turn this thread into a Woman and Internet debate?

...

Uh anyway...

I want to start a user group for people who really hate "user groups".

Hey, the kittens rescued the thread.

And count me in your new usergroup.

Ha! Funny, I didn't realize how far off topic this went!

Anyway, I agree with Manuel in the first place:

We're all one big Usergroup!
