Need help, how can I convert BMP's to JPEGS or GIFS?

In Off-topic

Anyone know any sites or anything that can do this?

Go to:

EDIT: Download and install the program. END EDIT

In the File menu on that freeware program, there is something called Batch Conversion/Rename.

At the top right you'll see a box where you can find the file you want to convert in your computer. Find it, and click on it to make the name of the file appear in the left pane.

In the Files of Type box, select which kind of image format you're going to convert FROM. Select your output directory (where you want the converted file to go), then towards the bottom choose your Output Format (i.e. jpg, gif).

Now, see the top of the screen where there's a button called Start? Push that. Voila! You have a converted image. You can do multiple images at the same time, too. Hence "Batch Conversion." You can also rename it at the same time, but I rarely need that feature.

It's a great and easy to use FREEWARE program! Check it out... hope this helps!

Thanx Roth, this did help. I had a 98 and whenever I used paint, it would let me save it as a Jpeg file. The 2000 I have now will only save it as BMP.

EDIT: can you guide me through the Down load, which do I get and stuff

Alright, go to the Downloads section on the Irfanview site. Click on the Tucows link with the five cows next to it. Next, on the right hand side of the next window, you'll see a box called Download. Click on the operating system that you use. When it takes you to the next web site, select what State you're from in the drop-down menu. When the next screen comes up, click on a link under the words Mirror Name. Don't bother with whatever they have advertised (i.e. SpyDoctor).

When you get it all downloaded, click on the .exe file. Follow the steps that the computer guides you through to install. I believe Irfanview asks what files you want to associate with it. Don't bother with it right now, you can configure that later.

If you need more help, let me know!

thanx again roth
