What kind of music do you like?

In Off-topic

What singers/bands/music styles do you like?
I think this is a very interesting discussion topic.

I listen very much to Japanese music. You probably haven't even heard of all the bands I like.
My very favourite is a band from Okinawa called "Kiroro" (right now I'm listening ).
Others I like: Ayumi Hamasaki, Rimi Natsukawa, Mr Children, Porno Graffiti (yes! that's their name, no profanity ), Bump of Chicken, Ken Hirai, aiko, Hitomi Yaida, Tommy February6, ...

Anybody knows one of those?

If it's not Japanese I love Celine Dion, mostly her French songs like "S'il suffisait d'aimer", "en attendant ses pas" or "Zora sourit" (I hope I got the spelling right... I never learned French).
Of course I have to mention Queen here. Best rock band ever.
And Michael Jackson's music wasn't bad.
Apart from that I like The Cranberries, Alanis Morissette, ...

Happy discussing.

I only listen to The Chieftains, for some reason i dont like anything else.

I'm into rock music mainly, although my tastes move into dance, pop and all sorts really. I love seeing bands live, whether it be big bands or small local acts. Some of the biggest I've seen are Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Foo Fighters (twice!), Oasis, Janes Addiction, Run DMC, Rage Against The Machine (best gig ever), Muse, Green Day (favourite band of my teenage years) and Marilyn Manson (not a big MM fan but went just to see the show).

Metallica
Rammstein
Korn
Disturbed

Well you get the point

Metallica
Rammstein
Korn
Disturbed

what he said, and a whole pile of other stuff. I have pretty varied tastes.
As long as it's not whiny country, or stupid profane rap yapping about drugs and "hos" I'm usually fine with it.

EDIT: I should specify that I like Evanescene, take that how you want, but have a look at the singer and you'll see my main draw to the band

Well, I listen to just about everything, but as some of you already know, my two favorite styles are Funk and Death Metal! Interesting combo, huh? Ha!

I like to listen to Cryptopsy, Deeds of Flesh, Disgorge, Dying Fetus, Suffocation, etc... That's all my death metal side. Most people can't get into the throaty "frog" voice, but I love it!

With funk I like Parliament over all others, but also jam to bands like Earth, Wind and Fire, Wild Cherry, and any other disco type sound.

Oh, and Manuel, I'm glad you said Queen is the greatest rock band ever! You are quite right! I love that band! The vocals are awesome, and the rest of the band knows their instruments like the backs of their hands... better even! EXTREMELY TALENTED!

Man, have I got a story for you! I was in this original band called The Red Ball Jetts, named after the old school shoes. We had made some demos in the studio, and the drummers' niece was something like... maybe the caterer for the Chili Peppers... I can't really remember. Anyway, we were going to give her the demos as a way of trying to get the music around there, and we decided we were going to go to the concert in style!

We rented a limo from this strip club, and it was pretty shotty, too. The limo was white and had rust spots on it. When we saw it, we were like, "Rock!" Haha!

So we had to travel about 45 min. to an hour to get to the concert in this limo. We grabbed a case of beer to take with us, and headed out for the show. Now here's the funny part! When we got to the show, there was this huge line of limos parked. About 10 - 15 limos in a row, and they were all white. So we told the limo driver, "Dude, go park over there!" The driver agreed, and pulled up next to the other limos! Our vehicle was the last one in the row, and on the other side of us was a dumpster! When we got out and looked at the scene, people were looking at us like, who's that? I mean, EVERYBODY! We thought we were about to get mobbed 'cuz everyone thought we were famous... didn't happen, but you could see the possibilities!

Looking at the limos was the best part. A full line of beautiful white limos... then this rusted up white limo... then a dumpster! hahah! It was great!

Anyway, we never heard about the demos after we gave them to his niece... I think we sucked... Ha! Good times!

Rock'n'Roll!

I like the 60's, 70's, 80's and nothing else... I listen to the same cd for hours.

Here's one of my new flashes. ( If anyone cares )

That new flash is pretty cool! Ha! "I like black berries!" What? haha

Remember though, NES-Dude, don't be afraid to start a new topic to show off your stuff!

...

EDIT: I should specify that I like Evanescene, take that how you want, but have a look at the singer and you'll see my main draw to the band

Hehe I agree! I actually like there music as well as Amy.

My favorite Genres are Rock, Hard Rock and Metal.

So how do you think about this?

that exact image was my desktop wallpaper for several months

Evanescence rocks! so does Red hot chili peppers, maroon 5 and godsmack(all cds i own)

My wife loves Maroon 5. I bought her their new CD the day before.

My favorite music is Dance. If you want to listen to the best dance radio station of Europe you should click the link below. Enjoy it!

I produce some stuff, mostly electro and sometimes some techno, i like almost every kind of music on it's time. But electro has so many styles that i like that most, it goes way back starting with Kraftwerk and so on.
Once a year i go to a festival and maybe manuel heard of it, it's called Sonne Mond Sterne in the eastern part of Germany,a weekend of great electronic music, alot of live-acts and dj's.

Manuel, have you ever heard Zombie Nation?

I believe this group is from Germany.

I love the European music: Pop, Dance, Techno

Yes, the group is from Germany, but I don't know their music.

I like their music, but their new CD is too expensive $40.00

DDR, game in general, HEAVY l,,l , oldies

you really wanna know my style listen to my station, its set pretty good i guess hopefully it works
ok paste it in your browser

Wont work in firefox use Internet explorer or aol or whateevr

Favourite Music... uhm, the same as Luke's. It'd be a toss up between Evanescence and Korn for favorite band though. I like lot's of stuff though. As long as it isn't county, pop or rap, I like it, for the most part.

as much as i despise RAP im surprised i dont not like people who like it

when it comes to rap music, I'm sure nobody can debate the one true rap artist...

M.C. Hammer!

...or Vanilla Ice

...or Sir Mix-A-Lot

or my favorite rappa me u kno why when i rap i make fun of rap

Do you think it would be possible to use some sort of punctuation, and complete words? Even if it's not proper punctuation, it makes things like that readable...

I don't know, probably Industrial or Heavey metal?

Some of my fav bands

Rammstein
Lacuna Coil
A Perfect Circle
Korn
Metallica
deftones
Papa Roach
Story of the Year
Disturbed
Linkin PArk

Haha yeah Vanilla ice the true rapper

My current favorite band. 'Symphony X' is one of the few good progressive metal acts from the U.S. and that's their best album (IMO).
Yeah typical with the internet and gaming, the "metal" theme seems to fit me too.
I also like Ozzy, Nightwish, Within Temptation, and Dimmu Borgir (which qualifies me as "trendy" on other gaming message boards with music topics). I wouldn't have discovered many of these bands if not for the internet, because they sure don't get much (or any) airplay in the U.S.

I'm also a huge fan of 80's pop music. I grew up on MTV (pre-suckage era) with acts Peter Gabriel, Michael Jackson, Bon Jovi, etc.

I dig some Techno, New Age, Modern Instrumental, and scary "horror themed" stuff.

For game musicians I like Yasinori Mitsuda (Xenogears, Chrono Trigger), Akira Yamaoka (Square, Konami), Harry Gregson Williams (MGS), Tim Follin (who did some NES Games- Target: Renegade, Solstice), and all the various 'Castlevania' composers.

And any good comedy music act - "Weird Al" Yankovic, The Vestibules, The Four Postmen, They Might Be Giants, etc.

And of course... Yanni!

... no seriously.

They're one of the first bands I discovered when I got internet access 4 years ago and was looking around for new "unheard of" music. Anyone who appreciates 'Evanescence' should be blown away by 'Lacuna Coil'.

I did not really like Evanescene to much though.

...

I've heard a couple songs by them and looking for the CD. Typical of record stores around here, they never have the "good" music.

...

It's a secret to everybody.

Have you ordered from them? I want to know how well their shipping is (speed, accuracy, and whatnot).

I also need more money, as when ordering I like to buy CD's in bulk.
I was using , and they take FOR...EV...ER!

...

I'm werid because I don't just like one kind of music. I like just a little bit of everything. (except country) Also, I can only stand some rap. But, I like a little of everything.

Metallica
Rammstein
Korn
Disturbed

Well you get the point

u got gd taste in music

Well, I didn't mention this band before, but Yes rocks a whole lot.

I listen to nothing you like

My music choice used to be way bigger, but now I've far refined them. My music tastes are foremost classical and jazz (I play trombone quite seriously, so that could account for this). Other than that, no modern music suits my tastes. All the obvious classics (Beatles, Queen) plus Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins (don't let the name fool you, they're not bad). Every other band I hear has a painful flaw that makes it hard for me to like them. Something has to be extremely unique about a band for me to listen to them, otherwise in my mind, it's just another thing.

Can you guies list any rock/heavey metal bands or bands like lacuna coil?

I have like 30 bands on my ipod but i need MORE

also bands that are more or less understanable and not rooarhwwroarfdfdaahhhhhh

also bands that are more or less understanable and not rooarhwwroarfdfdaahhhhhh

But earlier in this thread you listed you fave bands and Rammstein was top of the list!

Edit: Actually I guess Rammstein are understandable if you speak German.

haha funny, yea yea. I like rammstein because i know some german but i like their music. You just incredibly can't understand bands like slipknot and i hate that.

Edit: Actually I guess Rammstein are understandable if you speak German.

That's true. They are very understandable in comparison to other bands.

...

'Within Temptation' and 'Rain Fell Within' are good too (if you're into the more melodic female-fronted Metal bands), but don't sound exactly like 'LC'.

I've seen Within Temptation several times. Last week I saw them too, they played before my favorite band Band Zonder Banaan.

Has anyone heard Roth's band?

He claimed that that the songs are a few years old now and the site is dead, but they are actually quite talented musically. I don't expect anyone who can't stand screamy, angry white boy music to like it though.

(Forgive me for the post Roth, but the world needs to hear you.)

Woo, I'll have to listen to this.

The photos on the hp are of rather poor quality, though.

Ha! Actually, I've been listening to that music from my old band a lot lately. It was a really fun time! Naw, I don't mind that you posted that link... I'm just wondering why I never did

I listen to alot of different type of music

From black metal
to classical
to pop punk
to hardcore
to rock and roll
to indie
to acoustic
to jazz
to noise
everything.

I like older music - the rolling stones, the doors, jimi hendrix, pink flyod, the velvet underground, the who and david bowie - and really chilled out dance music

Sounds like my sort of thing!

Good stuff Roth, I really liked it. Good luck in that NES Forums battle of the bands thing!

Thanks man! I submitted 'Inside the Mind,' but I haven't been able to hear the rest of the bands that submitted... both times I went to download, the bandwidth was already maxed out. Hopefully someone has them so they can e-mail them to me sometime.

Hey if your into rock and metal check out the Ride Gone Bad band website and free downloads. They have started releasing some stuff over the web from our site.

I have a varied musical taste...I like metal like King Diamond, Mercyful Fate and Judas Priest...punk like the Misfits,Samahin and Balzac..old country like Johnny Cash and old rock n' roll like Elvis and doo wop stuff. I had a punk band a million years ago in high school, we used to speed up fifties music and re-write the lyrics to be more "evil". Like I rewrote Earth Angel to fit the point of view of a flesh-eating ghoul...I know, it's morbid and I'm weird.

Battle of the bands? NES forums? Who? Where?

I could submit "The Villens", but that would be lowering the standards greatly.

Heres the link:

Here's the link to the submissions, but unfornately it has expired. Calgone did resubmit it, but that too has expired now.

When I first tried everything was working fine but I didn't have time to listen to the songs. When I went back later it had expired.
I don't know what's happening with the whole battle now. At least we get to here Roth's entry.
