G-Mail invites...

In Off-topic

I just got the new G-Mail from an invite from NES-Luke. I can invite four others to their own account. Is anybody interested?

If you have invites that you want to give out, just post them here!

I've still got something like 14 or 15 on my two accounts... lemme know if anyone wants one...

umm sorry but what do u mean invite others to their own account i might be ineterested... lol

yes, it's an invitiation to open your own account, Gmail's claim to fame is that they offer 1GB of storage (actually 1000MB, a GB is 1024MB)

G-Mail is the newest (and still working) project for E-Mail. You get 1000 megs of storage space, and don't really have to delete anything. It's a work in progress, and so far, I love it! Continued support for it will only help them to design it better. I've never had any problems with any Google program ( though I didn't like the Desktop Search) and want to support them.

While we're on the topic of Google, I might also suggest using Firefox as your primary web browser, for reasons that should already be known to everyone!

I have a Gmail account and was wondering how do you actually invite people? In the top right of my inbox theres a link that says "Invite 4 friends to Gmail" but when I press it nothing happens. It doesn't even say page unfound or anything like that, just nothing.

if you're using a supported brower it should pop up a window asking you to enter the person's first and last name, and an address that the invitation will be sent to, as well as a short message.

Strange, it doesn't seem to want to do that at all. Oh well I don't particularly want to use them anyway, just wondered what I was doing wrong.

You can also invite through the contact list. When you go to compose, there should be a button below that saying something like Invite to G-mail.

Can't find that either. Hmm, I'm beginning to think google doesn't like me!

OK, I was mistaken about that. When someone sends you an e-mail, at the bottom of their message there's a link that says "Invite xxxx to G-Mail." Sorry, dude!

what browser are you using?

*cough* Microsoft Internet Explorer *cough*. I know, I should be trying out a better one but I'm lazy.

hmmm, Well, IE is a supported browser... as much as it sucks, it should work... all I can suggest is try it in another browser... everyone will suggest firefox to you, but I've had a lot of problems with the last few releases. although there isn't much else out there...

Edit: what version of IE are you running? perhaps it's an older version that isn't supported?

It's version 6, which I think is quite update. I'll try something else at some point. Thing is, I'm only a casual internet user so a load of fancy options doesn't really appeal to me all that much. I'd probably just get lost. This browser has done everything I wanted so far (but maybe i don't know what I'm missing)

really the only draw for me is tabs, I love the tabs in... everything other than IE. also the lack of gaping security holes and unpatched exploits.

As I recall the dept. of homeland security advised against using IE, so that should go to show you how secure it is...

I have some invites, too, but Gmail is not that great.
It's not bad, but the handling is not so good.

German mail provider gmx () also offers 1GB of storage for free, and it's not Beta. (But the bad thing here is, it's only available for customers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland)

this doesn't seem to be drawing too many people... but I'll agree, it is over rated. I've had my share of problems with it. I like the interface, and the storage and pretty much everything about it. but I've had messages take 24 hours to reach me...

I labeled a message one time and now I can't find it anymore. It dissappeared somewhere (I definitely didn't delete it).

Well, I've checked my two accounts, and discovered that I have 100 invites, so if anyone wants gmail, let me know

Do you use gmail often?
I don't use it very much, so I have about 6 invites... how do you get 100??

no, I don't use it too much, I found it to be unreliable while I did use it. As for how I got 100, well, I have two accounts, and one day I found that one of them had 50 invites, then today I checked the second one to find that it also has 50 invites, 50+50 is 100.

Have you sent out any invites Manuel? I've only sent one but the day after I did my number went from 4 to 50. What I don't understand is if Google are this keen for people to sign up why don't they make it available direct from their website?

Yes, I sent out 2 or 3 invites, but the number didn't increase.
Well, I don't need more, so that's ok.

hey id like an invite ! sounds good my friend has a gmail email

I sent you an invite.
Hope you'll be happy with it.

wow thanks man!

I would love a gmail invite if you have them, but I can understand if no.

Just tell me your mail address (pm me or post it here) and the invite is out.

Gotcha taken care of...

Well, I would like a gmail invite.

Supply a email adress, and sure thing.

i just checked and have something like 100 invites. pm if you want one so bad that it hurts.

I think everyone has 100, gmail is pretty much standard now.

Thanks uglyjack but I already received one from OGTL.

I only have 19 invites.

I'd like to give it a try.... Anybody? , Thanks.

invite sent to

wow that was fast!, Thanks

EDIT:

I just got around to downloading FireFox. It is fast and I noticed a big difference in color saturation/fine detail/little things here and there, but, I have this "bouncing" trouble. The page just bounces up and down... anyone else have this trouble? And what did you do to fix? Thanks

If you mean when you're scrolling up or down the page:

Nope. It happens on the NESFiles home page along with others....... I go to NESFiles.com, and then while I am just looking at it (not touching keys, mouse, anything) the page jumps up and down, quickly.

This may be because pictures are loading. Does it happen on pages without pictures?

I think it probably is caused by pictures loading, as it happens to me when pictures are loading.

Unless you have dialup or something, it shouldn't be that much of a problem. the only pictures on the index are the thumbnails that are like 1.3 kb or whatever.

No, I have high speed cable modem. I don't think its because of pictures loading. It has basically stopped happening . Maybe it just had a couple bugs to work out or something??

I still think it was pictures loading.
Now the pics are in your cache and that's why the problem is over... perhaps.

i got 19 invites. if anyone needs one, let me know.

Why do you guys have like 20, when I have 97 left?

i have no idea. maybe they build up when you've had it for awhile? i just looked on mine and it said 19 invites....
