Ape Escape will make you go ape!!!

In Modern Systems

When I first go this I thought this was going to be a bargin bin crappy game!
Man I was I wrong! I'm on the Jungle level so far!! Anyways who else has this game if so whats your views on it? and is the other ones just as good as the first?

'Ape Escape' is the mostest funnestest platformer on the Playstation.
The level design and intuitive "monkey A.I." make for quite an enjoyable NES ROMp.
The best feature of course, is the innovative use of both analog sticks for use with the various gadgets. The "propeller" that you activate by quickly rotating the right stick is cool, but my favorite is the "RC car". You run around with the left stick while controlling the car with the right stick. There is one stage where you walk across ice while steering the car under the ice, driving over switches on the ground and stuff. Just plain coolNES.

The unlockable mini-games are great too (especially "Monkey Boxing", where you throw left/right punches with both analog sticks).

'Ape Escape' is the 'Super Mario 64' of the Playstation (it even kind of looks like a N64 game). It deserves its place as one of Sony's top releases.
The sequel (played briefly) is pretty much just a re-hash of the original game, with all the same gadgets and new level designs, but is a worthwhile sequel none-the-less.

It looks like im going to buy this games after Close to the Edge.

Ed-type-of-it: It also appears it had TWO Sequels! The last one being for PS2, And another for PSP called: On the loose!

I thought the PSP version was just a port of the first?

I Wouldn't know, I guess Sony is going to pull a nintendo and make money off of old games...

Its pretty sad how many PS1/PS2 ports there are for PSP!!

How many are there?
I know some of the series on the PS2 have had new games come out on the PSP (i.e Ridge Racer) do those count as a "port" or is it only a "port" if it's an as direct as possible copy of a console version?

I'm not to sure... but more then the DS.

It would be hard to make DS ports, because no older games utilised a touch-screen.

No I mean like N64 to DS. Only one I can really think of right at this moment is Super Mario 64 DS. Even though some how I found it alittle better then the N64 version. But if the DS had a joystick I would say this game was perfect.
