Video Game Testing

In Games

I recently discovered the wonderful world of video game testing, after talking to a friend of mine from my previous job. After talking with him I did some research of my own, and found that I could make a ton of money doing this profession. I think I may have found my dream job after all. But, I am a bit skeptical of my findings. One, usually if it sounds too good to be true, then it is. And two, these guys wanted money to allow me access to all their things. I am really interested in this profession, is there any way any of you guys can help me out? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I'd say you're right to be skeptical, as a few game companies use volunteer testers.

Be sceptical.
Never pay money for something like that. It might be legit, but there's a big chance that it's only a scam.

hey not bad!

hey wait a minute! i thought THEY were supposed to pay YOU?? why would they collect money from you for you to test their games, and then pay you a crap load of money for testing the games?

that's what I said. I dunno, I just need money lol

Even if it sounds very sweet, don't fall for that.

This is the site in question right now, the site where it told me about making the money and wanting money

That site is a crock of crap. They are not offering you a job, just a bunch of information. See the disclaimer link at the bottom of the page. Part of the disclaimer says:

The Game Tester Guide is not a Job, but rather a guide that will provide the
purchasee with helpful information on gametesting positions, as well as other
useful information.

I expect all that "useful information" is available elsewhere on the internet for free, so don't bother paying $35 for it.

I've done some more digging, and found more useful info. Daynum is right, the "useful info" that the site is offering can be found elsewhere for free. . I signed up with them and am going to go through the ransk as a beta tester first, so at first I may not make any money but could easily become employed by a major company. If anyone has ANY information about any beta-testing jobs or volunteer testing jobs, contact me!
