this is gonna be tough

there was a game for nes - i remember renting from my video store a long long long time ago.

the graphics were great - 8-bit, but they were very cartoony graphics, kinda similar to the awesome graphics of Jackie Chan's game. it was a platformer game with loads of exploration, but it was a fantasy game. I think the main character was either a girl, or a really small boy - or squirrel boy. im really trying to remenisce right here. THe only thing i do remember for a fact is that one of the bosses was a tree very similar to the tree boss from Kirby.

I think you are talking about Kirby's Adventure,cool game and if i remember correct there is a tree boss.

i remember that i went to rent goonies 2 , and instead got this game, which i think is better than goonies 2. it was very colorful, lots of exploration like a Metroid or lotw, but the graphics were that of the newer NES Games.

Could it be Athena? The first boss is a giant tree.

its possible, but i play Athena - a lil - it doesnt seem like it because its not exploration

Sounds kinda like Little Nemo, but there isn't a tree boss in that game.
