Solstice NES Review - Great change of pace.

This is a great game. You play as Shadax the sorcerer. Your (predictable) quest is to recover all 5 pieces of the Staff of Demnos to rescue Princess Eleanor from the evil wizard Mobius. Shadax's only weapons are four magical potions all of which have different effects on his surroundings. Shadax must search out the Staff of Demnos through a HUGE labyrinth of rooms and tunnels.

Even though this game concentrates almost entirely on puzzle solving, it really is fun and challenging. The graphics are great for the NES and the music is some of the best you'll hear on the system. The only drawback to this game is that the play control isn't all that great. This game has good replay value because the labyrinth that you're in is so vast. (I've beaten this game at least 6 times and never found all the rooms!)
Great game! 4.5/5
