A Boy and His Blob NES Review - A Blobby Fantacy

Boy doesn't have much of a name, "Boy". That's what you call him, even the blob has a better name: "Blobby" but I just call him blob. Boy isn't drawn the best, he looks a little pixelated. Blob wasn't drawn so bad, the background usualy looked comparatively nice.

Throuout the game your stuck with Blob. He isn't a beauty of sorts, but he is the most useful living creature that could ever exist. Feed him flavored jellybeans to make him turn into stuff, which helps you get through the game. If you are horrible at problem solving, then you will hate this game. For the thinkers out there, you will enjoy this game. It challenges your intelligence (I mean that in a good way). You have to decide what to turn Blob into to get through to where you want to go. Furthermore, you have to figure out what flavor jellybean to feed him to turn him into that object. You must go underground, collect treasures while avoiding monsters, then go back up to buy vitamins and save Blobonia. Unfortunatly you can not destroy the monsters in the cave, which is a real shame. After you get to Blobonia, your only goal is to get past screens and screens of monsters. The screens seem endless, and you only get 5 extra boys to get past the game. You can not gain more Boys, which is also a big bummer. After you finaly get past the whole game, the ending isn't much to look at. After all that work you would expect to at least see fireworks or something.
Even if you don't get through half the game, it gets boring quickly. A week after starting it, if you havn't beeten it by then the game will seem completely dull. If you want to go through it and have the most playing enjoyment possible - read a walkthrough.
That's it, bad for most gamers and neat for at least a while for great problem solvers.
