Michael Jackson's Moonwalker

In Other Classic Systems

Has anyone ever played this game is it fun?

I thought that the game was totally stupid. So of course I liked it. Strangely enjoyable ;D

The Genesis version has the most awesome FM syth-ed version of Smooth Criminal ever. I want the game for the music alone

ive played it , i liked it i even turned into a robot.

I reemember playing it using an emulator.

I didn't get far. I think, the NES ROM was corrupt or something.

Oh dear.
The game was ok I guess. I owned it when I had a master system. That was a while ago though, when it was o.k. to like him and not seem weird.

I remember playing it on my friends Master System back in about 1991. I liked it but you know that was 15 years ago and I've not played it since.

I thought the game was allrite on the genesis but got a weird feeling when the little kids would be crying and then when you walked past them they would get happy and say "Oh Michael" .

Oh, that was absolutely fucking hilarious... grow the fuck up. Read the thread linked at the top of my post. see the "NOT GUILTY" verdict?

HE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING!

I like Michael Jackson.

Yes, this reply is much less civil that my previous "straigtening" posts, but I'm getting tired of this bullshit. Bad Dog had a valid question, and the three of you turned it into another "OMG HE LUVZ BOIZ!11!!11!" thread. this was discussed, how about we grow up and accept the verdict?

I'm not even a huge fan of his music, yet I find myself rabidly defending him on these boards... what is wrong with people? Would you like it if you were wrongly accused of something, and then were labeled as a rapist/molester/murderer by EVERYONE because of their own conclusions based on their (non-existant) view of the events, because they completely a fully disregarded the findings of the police, and FBI and every other god damned law enforcement agency ever?

if anyone has anything to say in response to this post, do it via PM, and lets get back to discussing THE GAME.

o.k. the game was fine. It could be worth picking up, especially if you're a fan, but I wouldn't pay too much for it. There were some neat touches in it, like the bad ass MJ dance moves. The levels were quite good, they were fairly varied.

The game is quite fun. His moves are so real and somehow funny.
Music is great, too.

i've never played this game, but if i see it i'll pick it up just to say "i have Micheal Jackson's video game"

Oh Em !!!!!!!1

I loved this game. You had to take it with a grain of salt, but it was just plain fun.

Well i just got a chance to play this game earlier and i liked it the moves were good and the music was awesome.

Is the music synthed versions of all his popular songs? If so, which other ones are in it?
I'm curious now.

Off the top of my head I can remember:

Smooth Criminal
Beat It
Billy Jean

You could grab the GYM from

Or the VGM (better quality) from

man, i've gotta hear that one. i like the beat to the song.

It's the main song on the first few stages, fire up the NES ROM in Fusion and you'll hear it.

I've played this game many many times. The Genesis version is alright, but to really enjoy this game you should try downloading MAME and playing the arcade emu version, it's 1000X better

I just fired it up on MAME and I didn't realize it would be a complete different game to the console versions. I've got to agree with blackghost I like it more. Still got the quality tunes. Bad on the first level and Smooth Criminal on the second (that's as far as I got for now).

'Moonwalker' for the Genesis is a good game. It's simple and a bit short, but very playable and not really frustrating.
The game play (not the story) in 'Moonwalker' based loosely on Sega's 'Shinobi'- as recalled by reading interviews with the programmers way back when.
The "dance attack" is an interesting way to dispatch foes (especially amusing with dogs).
The music is well done and quite accurate too. Every tune is instantly recognizable (provided you've heard it before). Jackson was actively involved in the process of making it.
It's also a game based upon a movie which wasn't a complete failure, so it's also "rare" in that regard.

I wouldn't have changed much about the game except maybe use 'Thriller' as the main cemetary level theme (instead of 'Another Part of Me') and added a racing scene to the tune of 'Speed Demon'. That would have been killer.
Looking back now, this game would have been perfect for Sega CD. Imagine.

The Master System version is okay. It's alot better than most of the unsatisfactory ports the SMS got from Genesis (it had a different final boss battle too).

Arcade game? Huh?

Wow... I had wished for the cemetary theme change myself, but a racing scene... Sega CD... it's perfect. You are a true visionary.

If I could at least NES ROM-hack it to add the real songs, 'Moonwalker (Special Edition)' would become a reality.

Then from there I would move on to 'Revolution X Deluxe' and 'Journey Escape: Game of the Year Collector's Edition'!

.......?

Or maybe not.

Like stated above, the arcade port of it is pretty good. Either version, it's still a pretty entertaining game.

I sure wish I still owned this game. Complete in box.

As much as I like the game, the $200 eBay sells last week would be just about enough to get me to part with it.

I consider 'Moonwalker' an established Genesis classic and still go back and play it through at least once a year.

There's a new MJ game in the works apparently:

First I've heard of this. I hope whatever is in the works is actually a legit game and not some cheap attempt to cash in on his current afterdeath craze.

It's the first i'd heard of it too. I suspect it is an attempt to cash in
