Chris Benoit, family found dead
Written: June 25, 2007

World Wrestling Entertainment is deeply saddened to report that today Chris Benoit and his family were found dead in their home. There are no further details at this time, other than the Benoit family residence is currently being investigated by local authorities.

Tonight's Raw on USA Network will serve as a tribute to Chris Benoit and his family. WWE extends its sincerest thoughts and prayers to the Benoit family's relatives and loved ones in this time of tragedy.

Ouch thats really sad. May he rest in peace. Greatest Canadian Wrestler ever? I think so. RAW is cancelled tonight, apparently. They are clearing the arena and tonight's RAW will be three hours of video packages and interviews in dedication to Benoit.

What makes him stand out more than others, like Brett Hart, Owen Hart, or even Edge, for that matter...?

This bullshit about someone being the greatest ever everything as soon as they die is annoying. I can understand paying respect, but don't make people out to be the opposite of what they are.

You have a point there, Luke.

IMO I think he is the best. He's my favorite wrestler, along side with Eddie Guerrero. I use to follow Benoit matches as long as I can rememeber back in the WCW. It's just a shock to see another great wrestler die. No gun shot wounds and the case is being looked at as a murder-suicide (the act of homicide and then suicide).

If it was a murder-suicide on Benoit's part, that's a HUGE shocker. He's always been known as a family man, through his entire life, and a very quiet guy but close to Malenko, JBL, Eddie, Chavo, Owen, and Rey. Eddie, Chavo, Malenko, Owen, and Benoit being the closest to each other. He never really talked to anyone else. Just those guys and his family.

Never did drugs, nice guy, did well in school, etc.

I just can't picture him killing his seven year old son and his wife of ten years, and then leaving his other two children without a father. I just don't get it.

Also this was the saddest tribute show on the WWE. Even in previous ones, like the Pillman one, Owen, and Eddie they kinda kept a gray area between kayfabe and reality, but it's a balls to the wall show tonight. When you open a show with "Tonight was supposed to be a show with a storyline in memory of the demise of my character Mr. McMahon but in real life Chris Benoit was found dead with his wife, Nancy, and son, Daniel... tonight we will pay our respects to him and his family."

edit:
Last Night when Chavo was talking, he said he talked to Chris yesterday.

Apparently, Chris killed Nancy on Saturday, kept Daniel locked up until Sunday, when he killed him, and then killed himself late last night. Regal knew. Regal knew that Benoit did what he did, and unlike everyone, it was tearing him up. Now, people who looked up to him like Edge, Christian, and Jericho, are torn up on the inside and his closest friends: Chavo, Malenko, JBL, and then his retired friends like Bret, are just in mass confusion. Then you have just about every other active wrestler on the planet, who is just in a state of shock right now, that he'd do something so... vile. Oh, and it appears that Nancy and Daniel were strangled to death, acccording to the latest statement. We'll hear more tomorrow and then by mid next month once the autopsy reports are in.

...This is so hard to believe.

So, he killed his wife and kid and (apparently) left his two other children without parents? What an asshole.
PS Bret Hart is the greatest canadian wrestler

I'm still in a state of shock, I would never believe he would do that. But anything is possible I guess.
Yep, it's been confirmed. He strangled Nancy to death in her office on Saturday, smoothered Daniel in his bed, and then hung himself in his weight room. I think a CNN special will be on soon.
WWE is removing the majority of Benoit media from their website. His profile is off the website (though you can still access it through the URL), all his merchandise has been pulled down, the Wrestlemania XX DVD does not include his name in the discription and has seen a 50% price cut, etc.
What a coward. All this time people, and myself, praised him for being one of the most respected in the industry and an amazing talent, but all he was, was a roid head murder.

Yeah, well it's not like you knew the guy personally.. it's easy for the writers and producers to manipulate what they show, giving an impression that is often totally different from the person in _REAL_ life as opposed to half naked muscle-monkeys jumping on each other on TV.

I still don't understand why he would kill his family then himself. He should of just killed himself and leave his family out of this if he was so inclined, or he should have sought medical help. But even still I have lost all respect for this douche bag, there is no excuess for what he did. I feel so bad, I mean I was so shocked that when he died, because I was thinking he was such a good wrestler. But after reading what he did to his family fuck him. I can't believe I felt sorrow for him after his passing. I hope he rots in hell. I changed the thread title.

Was he that big of a hero to you?

He use to be. Back when I was younger I wouldn't miss an episode of WCW Thunder or Monday Night Nitro with him on it. And I thought he deserved the title he won at Wrestlemania 20. Bought now I don't know anymore what to believe.

A little adVice, don't idolize people that play FICTIONAL characters on things like oh.. say Wrestling? ITS FAKE DUDE. ALL OF IT. Wrestling is just soap operas made for men.

Along with anyone that you don't know personally, hell, even people you think you know personally can surprise you with an asshole attack.

The only Wrestling I watch now is UFC. Way better then WWE, WCW and ECW combined. Do you think Regal will get in trouble for not coming out with this info sooner?

Well maybe we shouldn't let it say "Rot in hell"... I mean, he's dead, and we should respect that. Maybe he did those things, but we didn't know him. We shouldn't judge a book by its cover.

But he killed his wife and son. They are saying this could be the cause of Roid rage(Anabolic Steroids) but that can happen with most forms of steroids excluding the breathing and other health stuff. But really I'm starting to see both, Nes-Rule and Logan's point, we don't know him personally so we cannot judge, but there must have been some sort of mental unbalance thats for sure. But the reports are saying that they had no evidence at this time as to the motive for these acts.

xpac/123 kid/syxx used to be my favorite wrestler.
then i stopped liking wrestling.
then i found out about 1 night in china featuring him and I realized that I should never to look up to anybody, or else they may end up having sex with a man-woman and later make a fool of themselves on low-grade reality tv..

moral of the story..don't watch wrestling--watch drag racing.

Yeah, wrestling blows. Unless you like it for what it is, just acting.

UFC is some good stuff though. Can't say I've watched a whole lot of it, but I like what of it I have seen. At least its real

I remember when there were no rules in UFC, like that match where Royce Gracie snapped his opponent's arm.

Looks like I was right, eh Aaron?

This is EXACTLY why the "OMG HERO!!11!!!!!!" as soon as someone dies annoys the HELL out of me. Benoit was nothing but a moron in WCW, because that whole organization was a joke.

I agree with David, Brett Hart was the best Canadian wrestler. Though last I actively watched WWF (yeah, it's been a while) I took a liking to Jericho.

Your correct, Luke. Once more you are right. Brett was pretty good. Was the main reason he left was because of the death of his brother? I would like to see a return of him.

Brett decided to take a contact with WCW after Vince refused to live up to his end. Brett was then fucked by Vince, and various other members of the WWF including HBK and HHH. I doubt he'll ever go back.

Owen's death was a coincidence.

And on another note, I don't understand why anyone gives a shit about Benoit. Be upset when a friend or family member dies, sure. But when some dude on tv dies?

Frankly, I don't understand that.

My favourite wrestler has always been Hulk Hogan, but I'm not an expert when it comes to this subject.
