Job Hunting

In Off-topic

Has anyone else been looking for a job? I been running all over town looking for work but still no luck.

The best thing I can suggest if you need employment soonly is a temp agency. I've been with two in the past 6 months, the work is pretty crap (for me anyway, as I'm terribly under qualified for anything interesting) but money is money...

I plan to look for a job from June. I hope to find something soccer World Cup related.

A thing employers like is if you put in an application then call them a couple days later to verify that they recieved it. (It makes you look like you're really interested in the job).

I need to start looking for a new job. I got nice pay, company vehicle, and the freedom I have to come home when I want is nice (not a real perk as I am not supposed to be coming home ). There is just wayy to much stress involved, I work ALOT of hours, and I am on-call (24-7) 12-16 weeks a year. And on top of it all we have this new GM that is an absolute prick! He has everyone sooo afraid that they are trying to cover their own a$$e$ which causes alot of backstabbing. I don't want to be stressed and overworked when my son is born, I want to be able to enjoy it.

I usually don't have much trouble finding a job. It just depends on what you are willing to do. I like to do physical stuff so I usually go for grunt work, which sucks, but it keeps you in shape and they pay good

i need a job too. i have one, but because Florida is the house building hotspot () permitting is backed up for a month, and we can't start the new house, or the pool til permitting is back to normal. i think it's been about 2-3 weeks since i last worked

Is the pay really crappy? I was thinking of picking up an application.

The military is still hiring.

You'll probably get shot at at some point, regardless of serVice though. 30 days of paid vacation a year starting at day one, 20 year retirement, assignments to cool places like Japan, great education benefits, etc.

The downsides are that like most jobs, sometimes your boss is a bunghole, but at least they should transfer out in a year or so. Getting shot at may be a downside, depending on your level of sanity.

I actually got out of the serVice in May of '99 and came back in November of '01, so I spent a couple years working "real" jobs and and decided to come back in. I was making $15 an hour as a mechanic, but now I have more disposable income as just an E-5.
