VCR/Computer.

In Off-topic

is there anyway i could Hook up my VCR to the computer and play the movie, and save the movie on the computer?(i made my own movie and i'd like to show it to ya all.)

I like the movie, its my first one, and its like 50 minutes long.
We have some pretty good parts and also some really Crappy ones too.
It always has a part where say i drink from a glass, then restarts i drink the same glass but back a step and i fall over on a table.

And I want Ideas for our Group name, and Name of movie.

if this ever works ill warn you im the stupid guy(Lt. Fluaz) in CamoFlauge.

Andrew just moved to California (in reality) and he is teh Merchant type guy.

Eric is Leon Scott, and he just moved also ,but he is in ND now.

Zach is Zack Sack, he is still here in SD.

thanks for any Replies.

Not directly. You'd need some kind of , which is probably going to cost a pretty penny unless you happen to have one built into your video card (unlikely.

Damn
THose are expensive.

If you can find a way to get your film transferred cheaply onto DVD, that would be a start. Then you could just rip it the same way as you can with most DVDs. (I have DVD ripping software I use to watch films on my Pocket PC, for example)

ok thanks Il try and figure this out.

i have been wanting to get a video of my smb1 record up on the internet for a while, i think i will eventually, prob try to get it to DVD

In order to get video onto your computer, the signal must be converted from analog to digital.

The way I do it is with a camcorder - specifically, a Sony HandyCam DCR-TRV350. This video camera has an input mini-jack for RCA plugs (S-video too) so I can capture any analog source that outputs with RCA (like VCRs). The output from the camcorder uses a "firewire" that plugs into the PC's 1394/IEEE port. I can then use various video-capturing software to record and save whatever is streaming to the PC as a video file (mpeg, AVI, WMV).

I got the DCR-TRV350 off eBay for $183 (used). It retails for around $500 (brand new)- which is roughly the same price as a stand-alone "analog-to-digital converter" unit- with the added bonus that you're getting a video camera also.

I made this using my HandyCam to show how it works.
(That's the video of me beating all 8 robots from 'Megaman 2' using just the regular shot.)
It works very well so far.

You could also just use a TV-tuner card...

There are dedicated tuner cards that go for $20 - $30, but I found that one in a few seconds as an example.

or i could say im broke and theres no way ill spend that much on somethin
like that,is there anyway i could use anything around the standard home.

No.

One option is to get a DVD recorder for the TV ($100) and input the VCR to it and record to DVD. Not only is it good for converting VCR to DVD but u can also record tv on DVD and copy DVDs.

I'd be willing to put it on a dvd/cd for you for free. I really enjoy video editing stuff like that and just bought a new computer for doing it. You could just mail it and I'd burn it and send it back.

Dude thanks i have en extra copy of the movie too.
.

Yah I'd be happy to, but Contrary to popular beleif video capture deVices don't have to be that pricey. If you have a USB port you can one that plugs in there for $40. It demands quite a few system resources...; I have a capture card that has "DV" input and analog input and outputs.

alrighty just PM me yer address or somethin, i dunno

Sorry I haven't gotton back to you lately. I started school and I've been working a lot more. I want to get a different sound card before I do anything with a vcr to computer cause I just have a normal one and I need some more line in slots etc. etc. So once I do have a new sound card I'll get back to you...you might want to get something though instead cause I'm not sure how long it will be before I get a new sound card...

ok i just made another movie it sucks compared to the other but this one is with legos (zombies, people and a Jeep) . Its cool when i talk as the person.

I wish i could show u guys.

I want to soo bad.
