My Gamecube...DEAD

In Modern Systems

Yup, after dissecting the thing 10 bazillion times to fix the lens and having it work for about a week, my spin engine on the disc stopped working. I am so pissed... Am I the only guy who's experienced so much problems with these newer consoles, GCN or otherwise?

I had problems with the first release of the PS2, and also had a DreamCast go dead on me. No GameCube problems though *knock on wood*

The newer consoles seem to be flemsy with all the little moving parts inside of them. Cart-based systems tend to be better for length of life, I believe.

My friends PS2 had the same lens probably, but they cgot it fixed for 10 dollars and Radioshack.

I dont have anything to worry about besides my DC. I dont use my PSone hardly ever.Dont own a new system yet.

Thats sad how your GC is dead! But my GC hasn't had any probs and I had it since the first day!

On my old Playstation 1 I had, my lil' bro came running through my room and jerked it off the table and bent the thing you pop the games onto. So my games would play for a little bit, but after a while they got scratched all to hell. But I've had no problems with my eather one of my newer systems. (I hope it stays like that...)

I never had any problems with my disc-based systems.

Neither Gamecube, not Dreamcast, PS1 or Saturn.

In your case... it's sad, but shit happens.

That stinks. I had an old style PS2 break as did several of my friends.

Nope. My GC is still in Top shape. But i hardly use it though so eh. Still in 100% shape only with a little dust.

My gamecube has been knocked off the top of the dresser so many times it's ridiculous.

Worst "damage" that ever happened was when the round thing in the center of the lid popped out.

but u can just pop it back in , and its nintendo hard ware, just think abiut it , it wont break.

Call nintendo, best customer serVice in the world!!!!

I have no doubt they will replace it, alot of people run out of the warrenty, but nintendo still helps them out!

*Dial*
"Thankyou for calling nintendo blah blah blah
Please wait while we put you on hold for the next avalible representative"

*SEVERAL HOURS LATER*

"please continue waitng"

Man, so many people call that i cant discuss any help on fixing my gamecube.

That sucks that your gamecube broke. Check in a few CD players or CD drives (modern panasonic ones are probably your best bet) for a similar if not identical drive motor.
I've had a similar problem with a PSone. When I got my ps2, I set my ps1 on a shelf, collecting dust for a year or so. When I tried turning it back on again, the motor that moves the lens continuously buzzed until I turned it off. I tried getting tech support from Sony, but they never got back to me. Anyways, that was a few years ago.
My dreamcast is a later model. I don't know if this has anything to do with it or not, but I've never had any problems with it .

First run of ps1 did have a faulty lens which only worked for the first year or two.
In Australia this is!

Dreamcast also had the same problem.

Seems to me japanese versions seem to be allot more stable.
