Power Glove

In Hardware

I ran a search and couldn't find anything useful on this. Has anyone used the POWerGlove before? I have run some google searches and heard about it, but not anything on how well it works. I am trying to get a little portable PC runing and was thinking of using the POWerglove to control the cursor, but haven't ever used it and don't know whether a modded version of it would be worth the trouble. What I have been able to gather is that it determined cursor position based on sound waves which lead to some signal interference. But haven't found a lot else.

If you find out, please tell me.
I also wonder how this could work.

I've used the POWerglove on the NES, it's absolutely terrible, and I don't imagine it being fun to build, or use on the PC as a pointer

In adapting it for use on the PC I would be changing a few things. As was previously mentioned, it used sound waves to tell the system where the controler was. This led to some signal interference because since the sound waves were of a frequency that the user couldn't hear, the user couldn't hear when another object was emiting the same frequency, thus interfering with proper control. Part of the modification would be to change it from sending sound waves to sending RF waves. and using the frequency to tell the system whether to move the cursor forward or backward, left or right. (I forget what the proper name for it is, but when an object emitting electromagnetic radiation is moving closer to a target, the radiation that is recieved by the target experiences a red shift where the frequency of the radiation is higher. While at the same time an object behind the moving object experiences a blue shift, where the frequency of the radiation becomse lower. This would be useable to tell the system how fast to move the cursor, though that is getting a little ahead of myself.)

NES-Luke: it is possible that you were experiencing that kind of interference when you used it. Nevertheless, thank you for your prompt, and honest, reply.

well, best of luck to you. That's more effort than I'd want to put in to something like that.

I have a bit of a vision with where I plan to go with this, and if I can make the NES POWerGlove fit it, then I wil save about $100 for each one I make (I plan to make quite a few.)
