The Metroid Series

In Games

Okay, so since I just got through conquering Metroid Prime not too long ago, I HAD to pick up Prime 2! Not only that, but I also grabbed Zero Mission. Also, I've never played Metroid II; grabbed the NES ROM. Haven't grabbed the NES ROM for Super Metroid yet, but I plan too. So right now I have my hands full of Metroid games! I can't stop playing them! They are honestly some great games!

Up until last night, Metroid Prime 2 was starting off kind of slow. Now it's picking up and I'm running into space pirates, so it's getting more enjoyable. I love this game in 3D, it feels so... right. I think they've done an excellent job with the series, and hope they churn out more.

Zero Mission is just a rehash of the first one, but it's strange. Most of the game feels like it's a Castlevania game. There is a map of the game, and I still get confused on where I'm supposed to go next. There's these statues that kind of "guide" you to your next destination, but they only help in limited ways. One thing that's really fun on this game is climbing with bombs! It's so easy to get to areas that you shouldn't be at yet (i.e. areas you have to freeze enemies to climb up). The bomb timing kicks butt for that, so I've been having a blast with it!

Now, if I could only find the DS version for sale somewhere, I'd be set

Well, I love the series. but have yet to play M:ZM. I beat Prime 1, and it was great. Loved it. Also, Metroid Prime Hunters is not out yet for the DS, but if you buy the DS new, you can get a demo of it.

Ah.. okay... didn't know it wasn't out yet I've got the DS, so I've been able to jam on the demo, but I want more! haha Anyway, I think they've done a GREAT job with the controls. Man, it's SO easy to use, I can't get over it. The touch screen is utized perfectly in the game. Can't wait for it to come out!

I looove this series I have all of them except hunter because its not out oh and did you know there is gonna be a Metroid Pinball Game !!!!

I've beaten all the Metroid games over my last spring break. In my opinion, the later Metroid games (GBA, GCN) are way different from the first three. For some reason I just couldn't get into the primes or the GBA ones...They just didn't feel right to me. I strongly suggest the SNES one, but odds are you already know that.

Ive beaten Super Metroid, Zero Mission and prime 1. They are all great games. Super Metroid being my favorite Metroid. I also liked Fusion as well but still havent beaten it yet. Im glad yo enjoying the games Roth because they are some pretty fantastic games.

I've liked Metroid just a Little before the 1st Smash Bros. came out.
I sucked at it soooo much I couldn't beat Kraid on Super! (hahaha) but now I I can beat him without getting hit.

Super Metroid also had some incredible bosses to fight and quite challenging too. My favorite boss on there definitley has to be Kraid.

Ridley all the way!

I still haven't played the SNES version.. man, I've heard SO much about that... I need to do that sometime.

Last night I beat Kraid on Zero Mission. At first I thought he was difficult... but then I noticed I was jumping to conclusions (again!). Pretty cool way to make him, though. I look forward to seeing Ridley on the GBA. After fighting him on the Cube, I'm anxious to see how they made him prior to that in the remake.

I'm gonna be going to Champaigne here in a little bit. I'm going to be looking for Metroid Fusion, since I can't seem to find it around here. I really want to see how well they emulated the NES Metroid on the Cube, and that shouldn't be a problem accessing it since I've already finished Prime (though not at 100%... yet ).

Heh, I highly suggest you play Super Metroid. If Zero Mission blew you away then Super Metroid will too. If your in a Metroid stage right now YOU ..MUST...PLAY..SUPER...M.....NOW...... Yup its THAT good.

I need to put aside time for 'Metroid' games sometime this year. Maybe the "Metroid Challenge" - beat every Metroid game on every console before the end of the year, or something.

I've only played the original NES game.

Ah man Zen your really missing out on some great Metroid games. I highly advise you to at least try the others out if you have the time.

Well, I made it through the entire game of Metroid Fusion. My main Goal was to finish that game, so I can see what the NES version looked like on the Cube. Linked it up.. and man, it's the exact same game as the original NES, but it's "blurred" over or something. I will definitely be playing the original Metroid on the NES, as the controls feel akward with the GC controller. Oh well, knocked that game out!

The original Metroid is one game i will NEVER beat. Without maps for a game like that im pretty much screwed since the enemies can kill you so easily. I usually went to the near end last areas and i wasnt even suppose to go there yet and i die within a matter of seconds! Still a great game though. And Roth good job on beating fusion because i need to resume that game. Been 2 months since I last played it.

I have beaten Metroid 1 without any maps. It takes a while to figure out where to go, but its a great game. But, there is only like 2 bosses in the whole game.

Thats 3 bosses because there's Kraid , then Ridley , and of course Mother BRain.

I wasn't including the last boss. Anyway, I don't own Super Metroid, but I know, it is one of the best of the series, from borrowing it from my friend countless times. I sugest, any Metroid fan should buy that game.

I got mine for $5 from some stupid kid at school.

It's interesting. I recently came to the conclusion that Metroid is the best game on nes and super Metroid is the best game on super nintendo and metoid prime is the best game on game cube. I guess I really love Metroid!

I'm playing the original Metroid again and it really is mindblowing how good it is. A genuinely complex game. I've been drawing my own maps and everything. I can't believe how well they hide some of the really important items. Games this challenging are so good.

I spent half a summer once when I was a kid mapping out Metroid. You think those maps are complex, but they really aren't. I still have those maps packed away somewhere. Metroid is the only game I've ever drawn maps for.

The basic maps aren't too bad. It's all the hidden passages that really adds to the complexity.

...

this is just my opinion but i dont the Metroid prime series cause i was never good at FPS. i only like sidescrolling Metroid , so far i have beaten every sidescrolling Metroid game except the original.

While browsing around today, I found this:

I'm sure a lot of you will greatly enojoy it.

all that i get is that stupid red x on the link you posted.

Stop using internet explorer, and then after you've installed firefox, be sure that you also have the macromedia shockwave plugin.

I agree w/ what NES-Luke said.

On the topic of the game, that's pretty cool! I played very little of it (got the first batch of missiles), but it's pretty well done. It's a little tough to play it that way, but it's such a cool project. Thanks NES-Luke, I love you! (not in the same way as Roll, of course )
