How to delete a save state from an FDS file

In Emulators / NES ROMs

I've got a question concerning Famicom Disk System NES ROMs: If normal modules are emulated then the game status is saved in a SAV-file. But the save states of FDS games are stored in the FDS file itself. FCE Ultra therefore creates a new version of the game with the new status and keeps the old file intact. So, after playing a game with save functionality, I have a second file that represents the whole game as much as my original file does.
My problem is now that I downloaded the game "Doki Doki Panic" (that game "Super Mario Bros. 2" is based on), but the genius who uploaded it used a version that already includes a save state (one of the characters can already go to level 2). That's why I'd like to know how to delete that save state and put the game into the initial situation, so that I can just take the copy FCE Ultra created and use this one as the actual game.

So, to summarize it: How can I delete the progress in "Doki Doki Panic"?

Unfortunately, I don't think you can unless you make some sort of IPS patch for it maybe... I really don't know. I can try asking around, but I'm not sure.

Have you tried downloading it from another place? There should be a save-free dump out there somewhere.
