Saving the music from a ROM?

In Emulators / NES ROMs

I can do it with my Sega Genesis ROMs, but not my NES. Is there a way to save music from a NES ROM? Thanks.

Thanks! I've been wanting to get a lot of music from my NES ROMs.

Isn't it easier to download the nsf files somewhere? (zophar?)

Yes it is, but if someone doesn't have something similar to the KB Media player, they still need to know how to record the music to be able to make a playlist. I had the KB Media player, but quickly got bored with it. I actually like Microsoft's WMP alot (version 9). It's one of the few products of theirs that I actually do like

I use winamp to play the nsf files. It's very convenient.

I use the NESten emulator. This is amazing if you like to capture sounds from nintendo games. It offers the standard record to wave file but also so much more. Each game is composed of channels of sound. If I remember correctly these are:

- Square Wave 1
- Square Wave 2
- Triangle Wave
- Noise

With NESten you can isolate individual sound channels and record them. This gives you real insight as to how the music was made. It's bloody amazing to see how complex some of the music is considering it consists of no more than 4 channels. Being able to seperate the channels is also great when it comes to recording samples. When you really want to zero in on the sound of Mario shooting a fireball. I recommend NESten.

I have been using my FCE ltra to record Faxanadu music for my Faxanadu + site. Apprently it's hard to finish because the game gets so hard, there are times when I don't even want to finish the guide.
