What I got in Japan over 10 weeks

In Collecting

I found the photos again, which I took before leaving Japan.
They show what I bought (game-wise) in Japan this summer from 2 angles.

Most of the stuff was unbelievably cheap. That's why I could afford it. I only spent some 100$.

If I just had the time (:( ) I'd put up a homepage with pics of every single item.

WOW!. All that for 100$ is crazy.. Awesome.

Sorry, not 100... I meant several 100$.
between 400 and 500 I think. But even then it's quite cheap. I got a NEW boxed N64 and Mega Drive.
I got many other consoles in great shape and lots of games.

oh, heh. Is that a PSP I in the corner there?

That would be nice.

No, unfortunately it's just the Summer 2005 catalogue for the PSP.

You got some cool stuff, especially the white saturn and the famicom disk system.
Are the figures in a line across the front of the picture (to the left of the DS) nintendo characters? I can't make them out too well.

Yes, those are Nintendo figures.
They are Pepsi bottlecaps. There was a campaign in Japan with these before I got to Japan, so my wife's brother collected a few for me. Unfortunately the set is not complete.

Here I took a photo especially for you.

Thanks for the picture! They look even cooler in the "8 bit" style.
It is a shame it's not a complete set, but I think they're still nice to own, especially if the campaign only happened in Japan.

I will try to get the complete set.
There must be floating lots of figures around in used and collector's shops. Shouldn't be too expensive, either.

For around $500 that is very very good!! I mean a DS, Gamecube, Dreamcast, MegaDrive, Saturn, and an N64plus all the other things is probably worth around 1,500. That N64 is AWESOME!!

I got the DS for free on my birthday. Yay.
They had a sale in a music store for the N64. They also had the Pokemon edition... If they still have it next time I go that'll be mine, too.

Gamecube was also free. Got it with 3 games from a friend of my wife.

Saturn was 1 Yen (1USc), it's "not tested", though, but hey, I can make a piggy bank, a tissue holder or anything else out of it if it doesn't work.

Yes, those are Nintendo figures.

Useless knick-knacks! .

Awesome Stuff! For 500$? Awesome!

Actually I wanted to buy so much more (there were Superscopes, Super Famicoms, Famicoms, Saturns and unbelievable masses of other hardware), but both money and suitscase-volume weren't enough by far.
I want to be a millionaire.

Hoooooly mac man,i wanna go too!!!! Congrats.

From your posts I know you are pretty a freak about gaming... that's why you really should go to Japan. Preferrably the big cities. What you can find there is beyond your wildest dreams (perhaps)

don't we all

those pepsi tops are awesome! i saw some on ebay awhile back. maybe you can snag the ones you're missing from there

I always have an eye open.
But I guess, looking for those in Japan is best.
US and European freak fans have more money than me and will most probably outbid me on eBay.

OMG I think I just crapped myself.. Dude I thought I had a collection going. That is totally AWESOME!!!!

Thanks.
That's a nice thing to read in the morning.

Still I want always more and a bigger collection.
Compared to other collectors (who have more money than me... far more ) my collection is still very tiny.

Next time I go to Japan I hope I'll have a job there and buy all the stuff I want.

I'm so jealous! Not only did ya get to goto Japan, but you got a boatload of extremely cool stuff. I thought I was the only one around who still had a Sega Saturn!!
So what all systems do you have in total now? (What you already had, as well as what you'd just bought)

That's not much these days. Other airlines ask more and offer less serVice.
I flew with Emirates, one of the best there is.

You could always join the military and get paid to live here. (Of course you may be required to get shot at every now and again)

The cool part is they pay me another $1000 or so a month for COLA (Cost-Of-Living-Allowance). You'd be suprised at the number of guys stationed over here that game because of cars, games or girls. (Come to think of it, is there anything else a 18-20 year old needs to think about?)

That blue 64 is sooooo cool!!!

But not everybody who wants to be stationed in Japan will be stationed there, right? I think you must be lucky, too, or they put you to Afghanistan or somewhere nice else.

@Malon: Thanks. I also like my blue N64.
