Neo-fami / FC Game console

In Collecting

I was considering getting an FC Game console / Neo-fami or whatever you want to call it (USA version of course) and was wondering if anyone else has bought one?

I'd like to so that I could play all my NES Games with no hassle and it would also be my first pirate NES system.

has 'em (and the Famicom only playing neo fami) for 30 bucks ($39 after shipping) which I don't think is too bad... although I'd rather get it for under $30. Other places online seem to have it for significantly more (I found one store with it for $44)

So, does anyone else have one? Is it worth it? I don't think I'll be getting a top loading NES anytime soon, and $40 isn't too bad...

Does it work absolutely perfectly like an original NES (ie flicker and slowdown and everything)?

I don't know about the US ones, but the Japanese Famicom clones seem to work properly. I only saw one running in a store and it looked 100% good.

I got one on ebay brand new for 25.99. I've had it for about a week and it seems to work pretty good except for removing the game from the system. It's pretty hard there's no eject like/type button so it takes some pulling and also there doesn't seem to be any save, I dunno maybe it's just me, but I got to world 6 on super mario 3 and quit, when I went to play again it was at the beginnning

SMB3 doesn't normally have a save feature, so no worries

I assume then that a game with a save feature would save...

It's normal that you're back in world one when you turn off the console.
Or did you leave the console on and that happened? That would be a problem.

Back then I left my NES on for weeks in order to go through SMB3. The good old times...

I remember doing that for some games, but now, I can beat most of the games in one sitting.

You didn't need a save feature for SMB3, that's why they gave you the whistles. You pick up the 2 whistles in world 1 and get right back to where you wanted to be..

But at first you had to find out where the whistles are.
Of course this was for that purpose.

Back then I played every world from 1 to the end, that's why it took so long.

I have one (as my original NES is aging) and it works great. I havent had a problem, just treat it like you do a normal NES. It will freeze if you yank the controller forward out of the system. But treat it nice and its great. I got a USA one btw.

even though you buy a US FC Console, does it still play Japanese Famico games?

yeah, the only difference between the neofami and the fc game console is the name. the fc game console (us version) actually has a famicom cart slot and comes bundled with a nes to famicom cart adaptor. so yes, it plays japanese games to problems. the newer ones even have nes controller ports, so they have all the functionality of a nes.

As I understood, the US version actually has a 72-pin cart slot, no adapter needed. but this was a fairly new revision.

cool. I might buy a FC system just so I can play NES Games and also buy and play imported Famicom games. thanks for your help!

what I suggest is that you wait a few weeks, and spend a little more and get the Generation NEX from

I know I'll be grabbing one as soon as I have some spare cash.

EDIT: I guess it's a little more than a few weeks, it ships in Sept. 05. but that thing looks worth it

oh! They've got the wireless controllers. those are cool

that looks cool. so it plays Famicom games too, right? if so, I'll just wait and save up for that.

yes, NES Games are front loading, Famicom games load in the top near the back.

the neo fami/fc game console is probably the best current one, but that one looks very cool.. if anyone gets one, make sure to post a review here!

I got 3 Yobo fc game consols. they are great. and the new version does not come bundled with the famicom adaptor. I'm waiting for some famicom carts to come in the mail so I can test it out and see if it works with this consol im almost positive it does though.

29.99 all over ebay for these systems. pick one up.

the new ones have no adaptor? is that just on ebay though? i know ebay was telling the sellers not to include the adaptors. anyway, they work great with famicom games:)

this would be the second time that I've stated that the newer revisions do not need the adapter, the cart slot is a 72-pin NES connector right in the console, you don't have to adapt it from the 60-pin Famicom slot to play NES Games anymore.

yes the new yobo does not have a convertor. it is 72 pin and only plays US carts.

does not play famicom carts. good thing I also got a family boy famicom clone.

I'd like to get a US to famicom convertor though...

you should check out ebay then. you wont find many but I've seen a few on there.
