Trying to track down an NES game rack

In Collecting

It's plastic, grey, long & rectangular. Holds 15 games, has these kind of spring tab things that when you push 'em the game will sort of pop out. I have one and am trying to figure out if anyone else has seen them at all, can tell me who made the thing, etc.

Hi,

I have a factory sealed "Game Stacker" that meets your description. I'm not sure about the spring tab things, and can't test it due to the shrinkwrap, but the storage rack is made by NAKI. It claims to hold up to 30 game cartridges, 15 on the inside, and 15 on top of the rack - not sure if yours is the same. I will scan part of the box later on and post a link to the image here, so you can check if it is really the same one.

This is what mine is supposed to look like:

Let me know if it is the same as yours.

No, sorry, this isn't a two-tiered rack thing. It's enclosed on three sides, only exposing the label on the top of the cartridge, facing out parallel to the floor.

Speedy_NES how are the games meant to not fall off that rack? it doesnt look like it has any ends on it for the games to lean on.. and how do you get to the games in the middle on the bottom rack?

also i have a nes game carousel coming eventually.. it's official nintendo with a flying raccoon mario on the top. it holds 16 games, 4 on each side of the square, and it rotates to give easy access to games on all sides.
now i wait another month and a half for it to arrive (dont you love surface mail from the us to australia?)

I'm curious about that, too. I'm going to leave mine shrinkwrapped, so I doubt I'll ever find out Taking out the games in the middle of the bottom row seems doable, though, as the picture shows enough spare space above the carts and easy reach from the side of rack.

Nice find! Is it loose or boxed? When I lived in California, I found a few old new stock of that one (they originated from Sunnyvale, CA)...I've got 3 new in box and one loose, and I have only seen them on eBay twice, once with a BIN of $250!!!

Is that one made out of wood? I saw one on ebay, a wooden cube that held 16 NES Games, with Mario's visage from SMB3 on the side. It was like $20.

I found a pic of it on ebay. This one's in bad shape, has a whole set of the spring tabs missing, and looks kind of dirty. But this is the one.

What company made that thing? Does anybody here have one? I'd like to get my hands on a second in decent condition.

Yup, that was it. That was the second time I had seen it on eBay.

As for your game rack, it's the Laserline Game Pak Storage (GPX1500). Here is a picture of the original box:

Hope this helps.

That does help. I like the games visible anyway.

Yup, it's a flip cover. I got the pic from an auction on the Dutch eBay - the rack sold for 30+ euro on there about a month or so ago.

My local Game exchange has a couple very similar but black instead of grey or white,

lol if my carousel is wooden, i couldnt tell from the picture.. it come loose, but with 16 dust covers and 16 games in it.. so im happy anyway:) there are some nice titles in there too..

Yeah, that's the one I saw, and I do believe it's made of wood. That's a poor pic, but I remember thinking that I liked the looks of it a lot, and I think the wood looks rather good, a nice change from plastic, and looking better than that old wooden box that was painted black.

Looks like you absolutely stole that auction though, what with all the classics loaded in there. Double Dragon II, Megaman 2, etc...it's a good start to a collection by itself.

Oh, and if anyone has one of those laserline gpx 1500s in nice shape, wouldja be willing to part with it?

yeah im happy with the price, even if it did go up by $20 in the last minute and a half. and shipping sucked pretty hard.. but i think it was still worth it for the price. im looking forward to this more now if it really is wood, i didnt know nintendo used wood for anything ever..

Hey jake, If you're still interested (it's like 2 months later), I saw one of those GPX1500's listed today on ebay for auction. I'm not sure if it's new, but it looked new and had all the do dads. If I knew you were looking for one I would have snabbed the link. But it will come up with a search on the name or model I guess. Anyway, just thought I'd pass that along.

Well I finally found a Laserline GPX1500.

On ebay, got it with its original box, the seller says he's not sure if it's even been used! $30 shipped. Really really happy.

I finally got the thing in the mail yesterday (I sent money order so it took awhile) and the thing is brilliant. The lid on the Laserline GPX1500 is light grey with classy red trim and of course in one corner, the red Nintendo logo, which really makes it look good next to the NES since they have the same color scheme. The one I payed for had the box in pretty good condition, and the storage unit itself was impeccable, with all the spring tabs in brand new condition, not to mention the unit's outward physical appearence being perfect.

I am quite pleased. Now I just need to track down another one in nice condition.
