Metroid
By 8 Bit Junkie on 5/23/2006 3:30:46 PM
WOO HOO!

NEed I say more. I've played this game ever since it was out. For many years, I had difficulty enjoying it due to it's vast design. I geuss it was the fact that you have time limits, as well multiple endings which discouraged me at first, then I got gutsy as the years went by, and tackled it. Let me say, beautiful game, and vast difficulty makes this game. Pimpin.

10/10

Classic in the truest sense
By Saikoro on 10/25/2005 2:10:40 PM
Its amazing to see people still taking an interest in classic NES games. Looking back at Metroid's now clasic gameplay elements, such as upgrading your skills to progress even futrher, you can see why classics still reign supreme in a day and age of horrible Sequels. Gameplay is simple and tight, and the labrythine style of the map will keep your interest for quite some time if you lack a map of any sort. Dont miss out, this game rocks!!

Addiction

Metroid
By Alexzero77 on 11/15/2003 12:23:00 PM
This game is awesome. The graphics are simple, but the game is very fun. They are many things to collect to become the best Space Warrior ever. The bosses are very difficult. It takes time to defeat them. The game is very long, it would take a month to beat. The only problem is you have to save by writng down passwords. I always write them down wrong for some reason. I give this game on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 meaning bad and 10 meaning awesome) a 9.

Better than the Gamecube game!
By Rohan Padiyar on 10/5/2003 10:07:40 PM
I still love this game. The Late Gunpei Yokoi designed it. I played Metroid Prime and it was OK. I like this game better.

Differences between this one and SNES one
By Cize on 9/28/2003 1:22:17 AM
This game is just as good as Metroid 3 for SNES. This one can be better in some ways, you have more room to fight and kill moinsters and do action, while in Metroid 3 you have to be much more cautious as you lose life easier.
Metroid 3 is more exciting but Metroid 1 is simply a more fun game with worse graphics but much better music, (Metroid 3 has stupid music, its so quiet and un-exciting).

Overall I would say they are equally as good.
10/10! GO NINTENDO!!

Very kool game
By Mr. Nes of the West on 7/18/2003 2:43:14 AM
as i said in the tite... this is a very kool game... its really 2 bad that i suck at it. i cant get anywhere but its fun anyway. this game gets a high recommendation from me.

SNES version was good....
By kicker of ass on 5/19/2003 10:27:36 PM
Since so many people love this game so much and posted reviews seemingly just to say what an idiot I am for not feeling the same way, I gave it another go. My feelings are a little better. This game was certainly original for its time and is pretty fun once you get into it. The problem is that no matter how many damn energy tanks you get, you always start with 30 friggin life every time you turn the game on, then every time you die and have to start over. By the time the game is half over, you have to spend 20 to 30 minutes just killing enemies that reappear out of pits and hope that they drop decent amounts of life. Damn, I thought Dragon Warrior was a slow ass game...
2 1/2 out of 4 stars.

Metro Metroid
By BombOmb on 2/6/2003 1:24:51 AM
This game is THE classic. I played Metroid II before I played this and I must say, I was amazed how much the original Metroid was like the current 2d side scrollers. This game rocks. Finding new weapons, exploring new territory, earning your health by blasting foes. The cool equipment you find throws in a twist to keep you playing. This is THE best 2D side scroller I've played since Super Mario Bros. Buy this game if you want the classic kick butt NES game that started the lifespan of one of Nintendo's most popular series. And btw, you DO start off with 30 health, so that you EARN the rest of your health by KILLING THINGS. Anyone who whines about low health and not getting anything done probably just sucked the big one on their first attempt (although I don't see how you can suck with 2 buttons and a directional pad). Go buy it, it's not overrated.

Metroid was and will forever be excellent!
By Atlas II on 2/3/2003 5:31:59 PM
Metroid was one of the greatest games of all time! It was insanly hard, but it was beatable and certainly playable. The music kicked ass and so did the levels and bosses. The graphics were fine, even though others like kicker of ass may think otherwise. People! It's the god damned NES were talking about! Not PS2 or Game Cube! Jesus.

Hard
By Nobody on 2/1/2003 6:53:35 PM

The beginning of Samus Aran
By Fangs Echidna on 12/24/2002 8:38:51 PM
One of my all time favorites, among Street Fighter 2010, the Ninja Gaiden series, and The Legend of Zeld. I give it a 4.5 out of 5, only because graphics could have been better. The fight against Mother Brain was awesome. And as for the series as a whole, it gets better and better with every game. The only game I haven't played is Metroid 2 for the Gameboy, and I'm currently play Metroid Fusion (Metroid 4) for Gameboy Advanced. This game even beats its SNES counterpart, Super Metroid (Metroid 3)

Reveiw

Metroid is a great game. I give it a 4 out of five, but only because of the minor bugs in it. If you have an appropriate emulator, I can send you a whole new metroid game for the nes. I am hacking it at the moment. It will be called... Metroid 2.0 Email-me at Jsgo410@aol.com

The NES Workout
By ToddVania on 10/3/2002 3:22:33 PM
This is a great one, except for the fat that it's so damned HUGE! It's fine to hide things and solve puzzles, but there's just too much distance to cover in this, just to get special weapons. Fortunately there's two ice weapons, at least.
Once you get past that, however, this game is fantastic and addicting. Cannot stand falling in the goddamned lavas, though. I beat this years ago, and made it up to the top after defeating Mother Brain, on the first try, which you have to be one cool cucumber at the controls to do.
The game is fair in that it gives you plenty of energy to defeat it, and weapons. The key is just finding them. I have a friend who does drafting for a living and gave up trying to map this one. The way Nintendo threw in the "better ending depending on how good you do" in this and Kid Icarus is also classic. Tomb Raider ending totally sucked--after all that work! NES STILL has some of the best game endings around, and this one is near the top. 9 out of 10

WOW
By Yoshi on 9/22/2002 9:01:01 PM
I think this game rocks, man! I beat it with codes and a guide off www.gamewinners.com. One code i used made it so Samus doesn't have her suit. Just her true form. She has long green hair. If you want to know the code or any other code for any other game, email me at Yoshi@atariland.com

i think the best game ever!!

this game kicks butt
By gnrchild on 4/18/2002 11:32:06 AM
Has anyone ever seen the movie Aliens? That's what I think of when I play this game. The wierd, freaky aliens that you blow up, and the creepy bosses. Quite imaginative, I'd say the only game that might rival it in that area is Contra. Aside from that, this game still rules. The NES still had some primitive graphics at this point, but the music still manages to give the game a grim, foreboding tone, and the detail into destroying the enemies adds to the enemies. Plus, the action never stops; it's a fast-paced shoot-em-up platform that'll keep you busy for hours. The only game that could rival this is it's super NES sequel (Which happens to be my favorite game)

4.5 out of 5

Metriod

Too Great for the NES
By Oklonia on 10/16/2001 10:47:38 PM
Metroid is the most action packed game one could ever see on the NES.

If you are looking for a real challenge, Metroid would be it.

The graphics are great and very detailed for the NES. You can tell where Samus is and what she is doing.

You should love the music in the game. It shows that a lot of effort was put into it.

The enemies aren't as tough as they look.

The gameplay is perfect.

Me, Oklonia personally likes that there is a password mode so you can't get into other peoples' files and there is unlimited room!

? Thumbs Up!

(And don't ask me how I got the ? in the review)

What's she got on under there?
By MI64 on 7/18/2001 1:38:06 PM
This is one of the first games released for the NES in the U.S. Needless to say, this game is a classic.

You play as Samus Aran, (the original Lara Croft) an intergalactic bounty hunter on a mission of epic proportions. The space pirates plan to use the dreaded Metroids they've captured from SR388 as biological weapons to conquer the galaxy. Your mission is to infiltrate their base on the ancient planet of Zebes, and destroy it, the Metroids, and Mother Brain.

The graphics and sound, altough catchy, aren't as good as later releases on the NES, but the game had great play control, a huge maze of tunnels and power-ups to find, cool weapons, and was just plain fun. Download it!
4.5/5
