This was one of the the games that almost got my Nintendo privileges taken away from me. I would get so frustrated that I would yell at the TV and hit the NES console, enciting "If this machine makes you so upset, then you shouldn't be playing it," from my parents. Hook is a prime example of what I refer to as "unforgiving 8-bit." You have to do it the NES way, or no way. For example, jumping at the PRECISE moment, etc. I hated the little sound effects (especially when Pan is hopping around) and the gameplay, but was strangely intent on beating it.
