I just don't understand why a lot of people don't love this game. This is a classic fighting game of all time. I too was able to take down machine gun willy without losing a life. All I do is elbow slamming and kicking. I even took down the evil twin shadow of Billy without losing lives too. If you low lives do not have the patience to play this game, then SHUT UP!!!!!!!!

I actually enjoy this title.
I dunno, some people have their tiffs with it, but I don't. I like all 3 DD's. Each has their own good and bad points, but none the less. Their fun fighting games.
#2 has a very arcade feel, where #3 has a more survival fighting game feel.
I like #1 just because it's so raw. :D

| The Art of Jumping |

I enjoyed this game. However, the controls are dismal. My man can easily fell one thousand foes, and yet cannot grap the concept of jumping FORWARD. Sometimes he'll do it, but not when I want him to.
Oh, and whoever repeatedly rated this game badly to lower the rating to zero, congratulations; you have no life. |

| My very first nes cartridge =) |

OK...DDragon was the very first cartridge I got for the NES (Besides the Mario/Duck Hunt combo that came with the system).
First of all lets address all the bad reviews: If you compare ANY console game to the arcade counterpart in those days than you are an idiot because it's obvious the game will differ GREATLY. So for you people saying it sucks because it wasn't like the arcade version, get your head out of your ass and move on.
For the people stating that the game was bad in terms of graphics, sounds, music, control/gameplay then you really have never played any other fighting game on the NES, because in comparison to many games I have played (and I'm talking A LOT here) the control and gameplay were smooth and responsive and realistically if you think about it, do you actually think you could beat up every single individual you meet without taking a hit for Chrissakes? Get over it.
Lastly for you who thinks there are't enough continues...I have to agree that that was an annoying feature (or lack thereof) HOWEVER, I was able to beat the Machine gun wielding Willy without losing a single life. So just play better.
MY REVIEW! Ok..As graphics go (comparing to all other nintendo games) they were decent. Some of the animations were pretty funny in my opinion. The music mirrored the arcade music pretty decently too. As I mentioned above, responseness and game play were great and it was a challenging game. Replay value is pretty high in my opinion because I don't mind playing it again. However different it may be from the arcade version, it has a charm all its own and to me it is a classic. I give it a 9 out of 10

| big deal |

| I honestly do not see why everyone likes this game so much. It is incredibly cheap and its almost impossible to hit some enemies without getting hit yourself. Double Dragon II was awesome, but this game is terribly overrated. |

| ToddVania is right |

| You know ToddVania is right, I downloaded this to try and I found that it is a play style similar to TMNT2 although not quite as good. This game is so frickin cheap!! How am I supposed to beat a guy with a machine gun without at least 1 continue?? And this game is way too boring and stupid anyway. It is impossible to beat without the use of a cheat code |
|
| Hi. We're TradeWest. We forgot the continue option. Sorry. |

| Anyone who has ever played the arcade version knows this is a pile of donkey feces. The graphics are sloppy, the music sounds like a bad LSD soundtrack, and the character is hard to move..I could go on. Most annoying is the lack of continues. How is a dude with just his fists supposed to go up against a guy with a machine gun without at least one continue. Probably most annoying is the fact that no home console has made a decent version of this arcade classic. Also, the dick-hardening panty shot scene is missing in the cart. I do play this ocassionally, just to get my heart beating fast again. I'll give the piece of crap 2 out of 10. |

| A Different kind of Fighter. |
| By Alan White on 1/19/2002 5:21:54 PM |
Every fighter should be like Double Dragon! No arena, no time limit and no annoying special moves that waste time and get you killed whilst trying to pull them off!
A great game! Nothing more to be said!
4/5. |

| What a Bloody classic :) |

Oh boy, if you haven't played Double Dragon 1 on the NES then there's something wrong with you!
Play it, beat it, smile and then beat it again!
Double Dragon is a classic beat em up where Brothers, Billy and Jimmy Lee team up against all the odds to save Marian, some chick who gets beaten at the start of the game!
Double dragon is a game which pioneered into new dimensions of gaming experience! Its a dirty fighting experience where you grap opponents and knee them in their faces :) Very enjoyble!!
If you don't remember the NES for Mario or duck hunt, lol then remember it for Double Dragon!! One of my favourties i have to say :O)
Sit back and enjoy a hell of a classic beat em up!! |
