| I agree, Contra has some realy killer music, Konami has some great composers for thier NES games.They have good music in just about every game they make like Castlevania, Metal gear, Contra(of course), Life force and Gradius. |

| Man, do I love Contra. This game got me into videogames period, screw Super Mario Bros. My favorite game in the series, the original Contra has some of the best gaming music, (at least I think so) and playing with a friend was the ultamate. The best game of all time. |

Then best shoot em' up game ever. As a kid, I never made it past level four without codes.
Contra was the only game my dad would play, and that says a lot. I can remember my dad and neighbor playing Contra and drinking beer. Then they'd watch Total Recal and boxing. My dad knew the 30 1-up code, but he wouldn't tell me. I could've got farther without it. Luckily, my cousin had a game genie...

| This is one of the greatest platformer games only behind Bionic Commando and maybe Super Contra. This game took a while for me 2 beat but all the same it was as fun as hell. i cant dcide if Contra or Super Contra is better. |

| This is undoubtedly Konami’s best known title and my favorite game of all times. The music, the graphics, and the overall game play are outstanding (at least for the time when it was made). I don’t think any game in the world will be able to have me re-experience what I felt when I played “Contra” for the first time. If you like this one, you should also play “Super Contra”, “Contra Force”, and Super Nintendo’s “Contra III: The Alien Wars”. | I found this game rather difficult, but I'll admit that I'm no expert gamer. Besides, it's so easy to pop in that Game Genie! Anyways, I absolutely loved this game. The gameplay is top notch, and the graphics are very detailed and interesting. The forward moving parts are a great addition to the regular sidescrolling parts. If you like action you'll play this for hours. It's even better playing with a friend. This is a classic game that no NES enthusiast should go without playing, or owning for that matter! |

i LOVED this game when i was a kid. one of my favorite games to pop in every now and then, just to run through a few levels. a fun(but too short & easy) game. here's how i rate it:
graphix(7/10): super c and later games look much better. not too bad for it's time, tho.
sound(8/10): music is great, but some sound effects(namely the spread and laser) are just plain wierd.
control(9/10): simple and responsive. only problem is the limitation on bullets on-screen means that a lot of button presses are wasted.
overall(8/10): i just don't see how ppl(mature, honest ones anyway) can give this a 10/10. i LOVE this game, and i can understand ppl having favorites, but this game is too short, too easy, and replay value is entirely in the eye of the beholder(some ppl run thru over and over cuz the gameplay is addictive, others don't). |

| My GOD, the action never stops, in this run n' gun shooter from those wizards of healthy entertainment, KONAMI! You get one hit, but infinate ammo! Outnumbered, NO wAY! Those alien scum wish they had what you did, machine guns, lasers,flame throwers, and the infamous spread! Get a freind over, punch in the 30 live code, and your set, but it takes a true master to conquer the game without the Konami Kode! Pick it up, and have fun destroying everything in site! Super C, in my opinion, is even better! |

| Shoot shoot if u wanna live, hardcore fast action, this is a guy's game, not one of those kid games like (mario). This is the QUAKE of old skool. Super Contra was the next game in this series for NES console; followed by Contra 3 for SNES console; Contra Hard Corps for SEGA Genesis; Arcade, MSX, CPC version is called Gryzor. So you can imagine the popularity of Contra Series. All games in this series are AWESOME. I have finished Contra 1&2 for NES in less than 8min, with just regular gun, without getting shot at all, and then finished this game over & over for about 20-25 times in a row. I love this game! By the way, there's a code for 30 lives but not 9. That would be up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, Start! How could anybody forget? Anyways, I've beaten it 100 times without the cheat! Great classic to buy if u dont already own it!
