It's becoming very amusing to read reviews written by children about games that are most likely some 10 or more years older than they are. Burger Time is a pool-hall classic. Before writing how bad a game is, keep in mind how old the game is, people. Oh, how I remember loading quarter after quarter into a table top version of this game (the great thing about the table tops being that you had someplace to set your beer when it was your turn). If you're old enough to remember the coin-op version of Pong, this game is for you. If you're not even old enough to remember what it was like to have an 8-bit NES console in your house, move on and shut your trap about classics that you aren't old enough to understand.

This game rocks!! The only problem is it's so damn hard!! With a game genie, you can beat it easily, but otherwise, good luck!!

classic??

Yeah, this was an original idea and its an old game, so does that make it a classic? this game is stupid! unless you use the infinite peppers cheat, this game isnt worth anything. .5/10

SuperTime!

It's super time! And what is on the table? Brugers! This game is a classic. Like wendys! Why are the burgers so big? I don't get it. And what do eggs and sawsage have to do with burgers anyways.
Peppers don't make people stop.

Peter Pepper and the E. Coli-ridden wieners.

Every time I play this game, which, in fact, is a lot, I keep wishing the pepper supply was better. After all, sometimes good 'ol Peter doesn't even fire the pepper he has right. This is faithful to the original, about as good as NES gets. For the perfect arcade version play the Playstation's Midway's greatest hits.
I like the fact that all the original arcade screens are included in this, something the NES paks sometimes miss (see Donkey Kong). Probably 7 out of 10. |

This game is about as fun as walking into a wall. Sure, it's a classic, but it's a headache. It's fun for a rainy day, but, please, don't waste too much money on it. Borrow it from someone or download the rom.

This game is incredible

This has been one of my all time favorite games ever since I played it on Atari 2600. Although this isnt the best version of the game (I am afraid that title goes to the Gameboy version) it is still very, very good. If you are a sceptic of the ways of the burger, dont knock it till youve tried it. Although it is quite hard, I still like it more than the Atari version, it is so much faster. It is closest to the arcade I have ever played, and I suggest you use the a Advatage pad for this. Beware, your pepper supply does have its limits, it is part of the stradegy, just ration them for tight situations. 5 out of 5.

A real toughie
By Sarah on 4/6/2002 4:04:44 PM
Beginners who play BurgerTime for the first time will want to try another port of the game before opting for the NES version. Granted, it is faithful to the arcade original, but it seems that the Data East programmers increased the speed of the condiments, which makes it more difficult for Peter Pepper to make his burgers and survive.
I've been practicing on this game for the upcoming PhillyClassic tournament, and I doubt that I will do well at all. I'd be more confident if the tournament involved the original arcade. |

Overly Challenging Port of a Fun Arcade Game
By Hokum on 1/21/2002 4:07:28 AM
This game is a classic. You play a chef named Peter Pepper, who must climb Donkey Kong-style platforms and walk over various elements of a burger - the buns, the lettuce & the meat. Walking over them pushes them down a level, and at the very bottom is a plate waiting for a full burger to land on it. But chasing you are deadly hot dogs and eggs and your only defense against them is the falling sandwiches & a stun-inducing supply of pepper. Okay, it makes very little sense but it is classic arcade fun.
The NES version looks and handles just like the original, but unfortunately there is one commonly complained-about difference: difficulty. The NES version is a lot harder, even for seasoned players. |

I thought this game was okay except for the limited pepper supply although this makes it more challenging I would give this game a 3.5
