This game is cute, and you can tell it was a Japan hit. Just the concept and ideas are very Japanese. The only thing that gets to me after awhile is the music. It just keeps looping. Not quite annoying as the music from Rampage though.. that is just pure madness.

really good job converting the arcade game to the nes. I love when that happens. Really fun game with lots of levels, but much better when playing with a friend. 8/10

I remember it so well. The year was 1975 and I was just returning home from a meal of Triskits and Trunkets with Sir Camelot, when I found Bubble Bobble laying next to my satchels and I decided to give it a gander.
The first thing that hit my ocular visions was the atmospheric proportions of Rik's bathtubs. No details were left out. Controlling, a sad mis-shapen blue bounter ball, you envelope and unjulate all the creepy roaches and foul serpents lerking in the shower compartment. Eat many of these fould crummers and you ejaculate into a foul grim image of Rik Totem himself. Your biggest challenge will come in avoiding the spiraling drain. However, if you complete your tasks, the rewards are plentiful. Warp to level 43 and see the festering corpse of Vincent Kermit McShlong. His foul withered muscle suit has been over-run with muggets and flesh-gnawrling insects. You must preserve his fuel-enjected pecs and keep his body in rare form! If you fail, his body will excrete the smells and fumes. Then the maggulars will return to gargle the fetted feesches. And the process will never end! So swing your magical dranda-ball around the sewer system and devour these caterpillars and warts. I pray you have as much success as I did, so you can be awarded the bronzed images of Bucky Lesnar and Dolph Plungrers. These fine, polished heroes present you with good stratagems and stratospheres and shower you with greasy, sloppy kisses. I bid you ADIEU! |

Never in the history of electronic gaming has a better game ever been made.I certainly feel that Bubble Bobble is indeed the greatest video game ever made of all time, for any system. From its great game-play,adorable graphics, and amazing soundtrack,no game will ever surpass this one.Especially since most games made past 1996 suck In my opinion

The concept is simple, and is made for kids. Yet somehow, this game manages to entertain me even today. This was a great game. Give it a chance before you bash it.

Don't let the title and cover art fool you, this game IS for all ages but it's one of the few that don't suck. If you see this, buy it. It is a must for any NES collector. These other reviews will tell you why. But just trust me, if you're in a NES shop and you see this game, BUY IT, I don't care how much it costs, BUY IT.

when my mom bought this game for me i was a bit turned off by the cover, it looked too "cutesy" to be a good game. i was very wrong, indeed! a repetitive yet addictive game makes Bubble Bobble an instant classic. the concept is so simple: shoot enemy w/ bubble, pop bubble (watch out for the last enemey of the level because he'll be very pissed off) it's smart to get all the enemies rounded up THEN pop them. of course my opinion of this game has become more and more favorable as the years have gone by, i now think the cover art is great and regard this as one of the best NES games available.

What a game

Ah...Bubble Bobble. Believe it or not, my friend and I managed to beat this game when we were about 6 or 7. The ability to enter passwords was a god-send for a game like this! It was quite humorous though. On the last boss, we didn't go ahead and pop his bubble when we first beat him to see what would happen, and sure enough! He turned red and got super fast! We continued and beat him again though, so its all good. I'd have to say this game gets a 4/5 in my book. Amongst the best in my memories, but not one of the best.

What if I'd like to play alone?
By ToddVania on 10/3/2002 10:17:51 AM
Oh, I guess it's OK for the time, but the Playstation version is perfectly emulated from the arcade version, which, of course, had more bonuses and such.
What happened to the treasure rooms? And why do I HAVE to be playing with someone else to see the ending? (Although to beat this you just have your second controller hooked up and insert a 2up just as the big monster recieves his final, fatal bolt of lightning juice).
Complaints aside, though, I was grateful for this game when it first came out. It saved me quite a few quarters because I was addicted to the arcade version at the time. I still put it in the NES once and awhile to remind myself how far we've come in console gaming. 7 out of 10. |

This game is so very fun, addictive, and so much more. And the music... wonderful. A few years ago in college my roommate and I set out on a three day quest to beat this game, successfully I might add. VERY hard by the end, but not impossible or frustrating. 5/5

I loved this game! I used to play it all the time. I'd never beat it, but I doubt that most of us could. Anyways, I loved the music, the sounds, and those rascally little dinos. I've got it on my NES emulator, NESticle- Downloaded here!, and still love it, even though the sound's kinda messed up. That's why I got the sound format- also downloaded here (where else!)- so I can hear the music whenever I want. Thanx a heap, NES Files!

Awesome!

Although this game is without any doubt the most impossible game ever made, this game is so much fun! The rom that I had had pretty bad sound, but the game (Which I Own) is awesome. I have beat the boss once, but he just got smaller, so I have never beat the game. But I love it, quite possibly my fav Nintendo game ever!
By the way, this site rocks, music from the game...YEA!! |
