BEST SPORTS GAME EVER!!!
By Mark on 3/1/2006 8:37:43 PM
Even among all the sports games today, this is by far the best. This game is pure fun when playing with someone else. The control is great, graphics are pretty good, but the best part is the announcer. I remember always saying "Blades of Steel" at the start of the game with my brother. Good Times 5 out of 5

Nearly A Cut Above The Rest

I can remember staying up late playing this game, it was and still is one of my favourite hockey games on the NES system. The graphics aren't as good as Ice Hockey, but it's still a lot of fun and it seems like the developers spent a lot of time on the sound unlike a lot of other games. I still like playing it especially the fights. lol

Pass the puck, pass the puck...
By EM on 9/7/2004 7:08:09 PM
Apart from the announcer, this game comes close to the early quality hockey games of Sega and SNES. However, having only 7 or so teams limits your game play... but its NES so why should I complain. I enjoy the fact that you can nurse a lead vs. the CPU by staying with the puck behind the net, but that's blasphemous in the hockey gameplay world. Enjoy the fights...

Who Needs All of Their Teeth?

Blades of Steel is one of the baddest hockey games of all time. It's non stop action and if you're losing you can pick a fight and the loser goes to the penalty box even if they didn't start it. A great way to make the odds even or to beat the piss out of the other player who's been talking smack. I'm not an avid hockey video game fan and I like this game. Have fun!

Blades Of Steel is awsome
By Kevin Syme on 6/19/2004 4:42:42 PM
This game is another one of my favorites for the NES. Blades Of Steel is a game that me and my Uncle Andrew used to play. Therefore, I suck so bad at this game. I always lose. But, eventhogh I lose it's still a fun fun game.

One of the Best NES Sports Titles of All Time!
By ChemicalTrain on 6/18/2003 11:20:15 PM
This is a classic sports game for the NES. The talking title screen and few lines spoken by the ref were such a new thing at the time it was released. The gameplay is great and the graphics aren't bad either. You don't have to be a hockey fan to enjoy this game. The fighting and penalty shot modes are a great addition. You even have a chance to play a mini game (A short preview of other NES games such as Contra) between periods. This will provide hours of enjoyable gameplay for you. It's great fun playing against the computer, or a friend. This one belongs in any respectable collection. Get it if you don't already have it.

A Great Game
By Eric on 1/31/2003 6:45:02 PM
This was one of my favorite games as a kid. This game takes a more realistic approach to the sport, rather than the more cartoony Ice Hockey.

However, there are some down points to the game. For instance, the puck never actually leaves the surface of the ice. There are no wrist shots here.

However, the fights are well done, and add an extra emement to the game, and the penalty shots feature some solid graphic's and DO allow you to get the puck up and off the ice.

This game isn't as good for hockey as Tecmo Super Bowl was for football, but it still did an admirable job of representing the sport. I gave it 4 out of 5.

The mother of Ice Hokey
