taking my NES to the USA...

In Hardware

hello again, i have a quick question that i thought you NES gurus may be able to help me with.

i want to take one of my circuit bent NES units to the USA, apart from the obvious problem of the UK unit being PAL, do you think i will have any issues with the POWer supply? can i take a UK PSU and use an adaptor to make it fit with the USA POWer sockets/outlets, or could i even use a US PSU?

i know the uk models use 12v DC, i'm just concerned about that it might not work, or even worse, fry the thing completly.

cheers in advance,

bod.

US models use 9v AC and 1.3 amps. You'd be better off trying to find a compatible transformer that runs off US outlets. Of course, you could pick up a voltage adapter, and run your NES from there, but from my experience, adapters are unreliable and only work with heaters. NTSC units also run at a slightly faster clock speed, but it probably shouldn't matter. Most games are not timing oriented. By the way, you may want to make your nes region free if you haven't already. is a good textfile on system region compatibility.
